been doing dips for awhile and ive been noticing it puts more of a stress my shoulders. i try to go as low as possible.. below making a 90degree with my elbow. whats causing this? id like to add weight to my dips but dont have a weightbelt but theres some plastic yolk looking things i could put across my shoulders.. sound like a good idea? or should me and dips no longer be friends?

If you grab the bars close to your body, and keep your body vertical, you'll work your triceps more.
If you hold the bars further apart and lean forward you'll shift the focus onto your pecs - particularly the lower outer pecs.
Stability in your shoulder girdle is vital. If you don't have it, try a dip machine untill you've strengthened that area.

fuckin love me some dips on my last set of the week for tris and to shatter anything left i have in my delts and chest

rep them shits out like mad

nah im stable while doing them. its just when im done i have an annoying brief pain for a little bit then i do another set when its done.. my colleges gym has only 1 width for our dips id say its pretty close gripped

i wouldnt add weight on your shoulders, get a chain with a couple of snap rings and hang some weights, either that or just hold a dumb bell between your legs

They give me pain in my left rotator. A few pressing excercises do. Do some rotator excercises first and make sure your good and warmed up.

If you can find a hammer strength dip machine that is plate loaded with the plates in the rear you are money. That thing will really blast your upper body.

I used to do dips religiously, but then last fall I started having severe pain in my left shoulder blade. Even when I lay off the dips for a month or two at a time, the pain is still there when I come back. It's starting to really piss me off because I'm not experiencing pain during any other exercises.
