Dips and added weight

How many of you add weight to your dips?
How much weight do you add? Plz specify lbs or kg...

I see a lot of larger guys doing dips with no additional weight. I am curious to see what the consensus is...

Dips without weight added are a complete joke. Might as well be doing pushups. I usually add at least 2 plates, sometimes 3 if I want to keep the reps a bit lower. I prefer flat bench and incline bench for chest development, however.

Yes. Add weight if you can. I usually add about 90lbs and do 3 sets of 6 or 8 reps. It can be stressful on the shoulders so I warmup by doing partials and then progress to a full ROM. That just works well for me.

Do you guys find that dips work out the tri's more or the pecs? I've heard it both ways but I tend to think it hits your tri's more. Thanks for any info.

depends on an individuals strength level. If unweighted dips are challenging then it is benificial.

Elbows in, closer against the body, with the body upright, will work the tris.

Elbows out, with the body leaning forward a bit tends to emphasize the chest.
