digestive enzymes (sp?) anyone use them?

AAP

you know... some people have to use them to help absorb and break down food they eat... recently heard some guys at the gym talking about using them in order to get the most out of all the extra calories they put down in their bulking phase.

Anyone use this? What are the names? Where can you buy them?

as far as my knowledge goes, they're only used for those who have enzyme deficincies.

so some dont produce enough of 'x' enzyme which is say responsible for breaking down fats... so they MUST take 'x' enzyme in supplement form.

as far as gettin the most out of the cals we eat as bb'ers.. .not sure.. bump!

I use a natural colon cleansing tablet, 1 every evening before bed, from Holland & Barratt, dont know what version you guys have in the states. It has aloe vera in it, I wake up with such a settled stomach its untrue, highly recomend it...

go to www.enzmedica.com

ive been using their Digest product for several months now...i had Candida and did not know it...had to go on a very strict high protein diet with yougurt to clean up...i used their Candidease product to do this...i feel 100X better than ever, and can digest my food on my own now...IMO and from the people i know who have used ANY of their products there are top notch....

The same PBR just mentioned. Good shit! BTW..is www.enzymedica.com

I use the Digest Gold. It helps with digesting complex carbs, lactose, as well as simple carbs, fats and proteins.

Others just help with proteins, fats and simple carbs.

AAP , betaine hydrocloride is cheap as dirt and will help when taking protein powders. You do not need a digestive disorder to use digestive enzymes. Something as small as passing gas may mean that you need some.

Also acidohpillus will aid in digestion and is seen as a preventative step as well as a theraputic one.

Cellulace is Cellulace
lactase is lactase
Protease is Protease

The brand shouldn't matter

I was using them as I was having brutal stomach bloat every time I ate, very painfull, they did help somewhat, cant remember the brand though, I just picked them up at the Nutrition House

What to look for in a brand? Contents? What is dose like? One tab/capsule 5 mins before meals or what?

Some are for carbs, some are for fats, some are for proteins.... any for all?

The one I mentioned IS for all! But! Its $45 a bottle! Ouch!

Digestive enzymes really do help out alot for high protein diets. Really gets rid of the bloat by promoting better digestion of protiens. There are several companies making them and some are pretty reasonably priced. We have a natty grocery chain in California called Trader Joes that has a bottle of 100 for 6 bucks and change, they're product has over 10 digestive enzymes and works quite well.A good online source would be www.swansonvitamins.com , they have several different formulas available also and most run in the 4-8 dollar range per bottle.

Alot of digestive enzymes can only be replaced by eating foods that contain these enzymes (pineapple and papaya are very high in in digestive enzymes). All fruits and veggies contain them, but most if not all enzymes are destroyed when food has been heated above 120 degrees, so raw is the only source for these enzymes.
