Different take on the Vampire genre-"Immortality"

HUCKLEBERRY FINNaplex

Released in 2000

Starring Jude Law and Elina Lowensohn.

The is one of the more original and well acted Vampire flicks I have seen in quite a while. It accentuates more of the dramatic mind-set and emotional intricacies within the monster, than the blood and destruction created by him.Taking place in London,Jude Law portrays Steven Grlscz(yes,it's spelled that way,and it's pronounced,"Grilsh"),an eccentric medical researcher. He is a charmer and somewhat of a womanizer with an air of mystery to him.He chooses his victims carefully, usually lonely women who are vulnerable to his charm, then feeds off them at the height of their emotional intensity for him(LOVE/emotion is basically what he nourishes himself on through the blood, without the emotion,it is worthless to his sustainment).

He begins to pursue his newest feast,Anne Labels(Elina Lowensohn)just as clues of his previous murders start to be investigated by Detective Healy(Timothy Spall).Det. Healy and Grlscz play a back and forth cat and mouse battle of wits, with one always trying to gain the upper hand and stay one step ahead of the other.

Anne Labels presents a different type of challenge to him, although lonely, she is a strong willed, unpredictable woman, who is not taken in immediately by his charm. He is fascinated by her own eccentricities and her view of the world. She challenges him, intellectually and emotionally, and he finds himself now being the one won over by another's charms.

This creates the ultimate paradox-In order to survive,he must feed on the love and emotions of another, but can he do so knowing he has found the love of his life?

This is definitely a different type of Vampire film, focusing more on the mental and emotional, rather than physical aspects(although he definitely displays his powers in the film, moving his body literally to 2 places simultaniously, and violently dispatching an entire gang of thugs who attempt to mug he and his love-to-be).Jude Law gives a charasmatic performance worthy of remembrance.

Recommended rental or buy if price is decent.

Never heard about it but I'll try to find the DVD :)

Ever see, 'The Addiction'? It's a narrative starring Lilli Taylor and Christopher Walken comparing vampire life with junky existence.
