Different diets for different workouts?

I alternate cardio days and lifting days. On the days I lift, I have a couple of protein shakes and generally eat more. I work out first thing in the morning.

On the days I run (about 30 min), I usually eat a lot less. I am trying to reduce bodyfat and increase muscle mass.

Does this make sense, or should the diet be basically the same regardless of my workout for the day?

I would go with eat the same amount of cals, protein, carbs, fats every day but one or two of those days eat alittle more.If you haven't found out your daily maintance of cals for your weight you should. Then depending on your goals,go higher or lower.

Interesting question. I see where you are coming from, but I would tend to agree with war machine - I would keep the diet the same. Muscles grow when they are resting and healing. It's important to keep them happy with all the aminos and proteins that they need, especially on off days.

Good points. On the cardio days I just don't feel the inclination to eat as much. Thanks

conservative absolutes...hhmmm.....failed ideology, and you didn't even spell conservative right....that's just weak

Calorie cycling can work. Example, have a low cal day then a medium cal day then a high the aim is to trick the body into thinking it isn't starving, because apparently when our bodies sense starvation they hold onto their fat reserves.

30 Mins running might shed a bit of muscle, make sure you keep protein high at all times have a protein shake or whatever source of protein before and after running to fuel muscle. Along with what ever outher food you might need, carbs, fats ect.

All depends how much effort you want to put in, if your pretty hardcore, then spend alot of time in the diet forum and on google making up some sort of meal plan and maybe also look at calorie and or carb cycling.

That´s the info I was hoping to find, thanks.
