dieting.... it's so hard

Is it me, or is it just too much to take in with all this diet stuff? It's like being 14 years old and having to decide what your going to do for the rest of your life. There are just way too many choices with diets. You can do a normal: lower calories than needed, low fat, good carbs, high protein etc. Or you can do that low carb, high fat and high protein. Or you can do..

With all these diets... you have to plan what you and can not eat. You have to calorie count most of the time (if not calorie count, carb count, or protein count). You have to do enough cardio. I find I get so discouraged with what to do and what to start with that I get lost. It's like with most people... when they get into too high debt, it seems hopeless and they do nothing. Thats how I feel. Beside trying to pick out the right diet... what to eat, what not to eat... how much exercise ... and counting.. it just feels hopeless. Then you throw supplements in there and some are good with some diets, others are not. I wish there was an easier way...

Does anyone else feel like this?

get creative..dieting can be fun! And the cheat meals are a bonus! :)

RADAR

Trial -- I do feel that way sometimes and along with the boredom of seemingly eating the same thing over & over......plus not every "diet" works the same way for each person & it can be hard to find out what's right for you....

Try not to look at it as a "diet" -- diet has the word die in it, so it can't be good! LOL But anyway it's a lifestyle change -- do I want to eat whatever I want in whatever quantity I want & look awful or eat good things & look great?? You may or may not be healthier when you are older but it is possible......stick with it & come here for support for those times you are struggling. If you wade thru all the ribbing & BS you'll find that support.

Good luck!

I get pissed when people call what I do a diet. A diet is something you do for a quick fix or a limited amount of time- I may change diets, but it is a lifestyle.

For me, dieting is somewhat fun for 2 reasons. 1) I really like planning a diet out and analyzing all the figures to create a plan that will work. 2) I enjoy pushing myself (I think most of us do) and seeing if I can stick with it. I recently tried the ANPB diet twice and failed both times. That's the first time I ever lost to a diet. It felt shitty, but I picked myself up and kept on working on a diet that is right for me.

Stick with it bro.

Original poster your a pussy if you can't stick to some sort of diet. You have to discipline yourself. Set a goal like having a nice physique and work towards. Nothing in life is easy. If you have to bitch about it you might as well go back to eating pizza, doughnuts and beer.

great attitude, bro. I am sure the poster will get a lot out of your wise words. I think your message is right (dieting is not supposed to be easy, you have to be strong in order to attain your goals) but the way you said it is not.

I take it you don't comprehend well so i'll explain it nice easy for your slow retarded ass. What I was asking is if anyone else ever felt overwhelmed with the amount of different ways to go about dieting and weightloss.

So I take it from your post that anyone looking for support from other people on these forums is a pussy? Wow, your great. Thanks for your post... it was so less than helpful.

When I started out, I was overwhelmed with everthing. However, I am a natural hardgainer (yeah yeah, no such thing as a hardgainer... I do too much cardio for my own good, martial arts) with crappy genetics (is there any one who doesn't claim to have bad genetics?), and a natural (so far) on top of that, so bulking or cutting, I have to watch my diet like like an overprotective mother watches her one and only child. You get used to it; it becomes a part of your life.

You should take it slow at first

Instead of heading right into some hardcore diet and workout schedule, take some time to learn the basics.

Once you can grasp the basics (daily calories needed, what your macros should look like, what foods will give those macros, what your body needs and when, etc...), and figure out what you need to do (lower BF%, bulk, maintain) it's easier to understand and put up with these "life style changes".

Have patience, keep reading and ask questions and eventually things will start to click. Before you know it, you'll be helping other noobs.

I agree with ya KB -- the way I eat is my "diet" but it's not a diet ......

I like planning & tweaking myselft --- it's fun for me (tho can be tedious at times) to see how much food I can eat for the amount of calories I want. It amazes people that I can eat so much & be a size 8.....

As I said previously, once you wade thru the BS & other crap, you can find true support......I personally think "venting" as I call it helps one to get thru something easier & can help validate the way you feel....Good luck bro

Bro, if you want to do it, you can. dont get discouraged!
seriously. start just being more active. then start looking into the different diets and find one that you like. Dont look at it as a diet, look at it as a lifestyle. it is a lifestyle choice that takes dedication. in my opinion, do a low carb diet, because you can still eat a lot. you can have protein and fat. what are your stats? if doing a low carb diet, have 1 cheat day a week where you eat anything that you want. it helps during the week when you have something to look forward to. this has always worked for me. PM me if you have any questions on it or need help.
sorry for the long post, but i just dont like to see people get discouraged

people walk into problems when they make an emotional attachment with food.

you have to see it as a fuel and nothing more if you have a weight problem. once you figure out how to maintain the weight that you want, it's easier to incorporate foods you enjoy and get that visceral connection with what you're eating. just my 2 cents.

you're natural? i didn't realize that taking >1g of gear a week was considered natty.
