Dietary Supplement Safety Act, do your part!

We have just lost our supplement rights in the UK:  The funny thing is, it was done so silently that most people are totally unaware at what has taken place. Fascist dictatorship?

One month ago, the constant lobbying of the pharmaceutical industry finally paid off in Europe. Last month vitamins, minerals, and herbal supplements were banned in much of Europe. In fact, France, and Germany and a few other countries had their supplements removed a couple of years ago. UK citizens will lose the right to purchase natural health supplements from 1st August 2005. B-complex, vitamin C, zinc, 5HTP, St John’s Wort, Ginkgo, etc will either be banned, become prescription only, or will be re-forumated into weaker preperations. In fact, just about everything that can currently be bought from a health shop will be banned or reformulated into much weaker preparations (which will cost as much or more). By 2007, it is possible that the directive will be widened to ban supplements like evening primrose. There will be widespread job losses as health shops and health manufacturers close. It is conceivable that protein powders will become more expensive due to fewer outlets and less wielding of economic buying power.

For many years, pharmaceutical companies have pursued an evil monopolizing strategy. This strategy seeks to discredit and remove all treatments that may affect bottom line profits. Any natural vitamin, mineral, or herbal strategy that may enhance health and treat disease must be discredited and prevented from gaining mass-acceptance. This strategy is not far-fetched or impossible, since the Pharmaceutical industry is the second largest industry in the world (defense is the first largest). Don’t ever doubt the power of these industries to corrupt and lobby governments to change policies and laws.

The pharmaceutical industry doesn’t want you to seek alternative treatments for your arthritis, diabetes, depression, or heart disease. The pharmaceutical industry would prefer that you don’t remain quite so healthy by taking your one-a-day multi-vitamin pill. The pharmaceutical industry would very much like to monopolize your health with expensive patented drugs.

This might be a good point to reflect on the fact that the 4th largest killer of human beings is pharmaceutical drugs. Pharmaceutical drugs mostly treat symptoms. Treating symptoms is profitable. Less disease means less profit.

To support this evil strategy, the pharmaceutical industry has been engaged in lobbying and an immoral PR campaign. Remember the recent news reports that dishonestly and ambiguously claimed that all vitamins can kill? This was the pharmaceutical misinformation PR machine at work. Are you questioning why the UK media isn’t reporting on this issue? They have been silenced by the pharmaceutical industry and the government. The UK media is not free to report on this issue; just like they are not free to explore the Dr Kelly and WMD issue. He who pays the piper plays the tune....

Please read and donate JUST £10 to the lawsuit (our last hope):

Read how the Labor party stacked the vote in the pharmaceutical industry’s favor. Remember, political parties need donations to survive, and the pharmaceutical industry donates millions to political parties:

America is next..

Americans could still help their UK bro's by donating just £10 or £15 to the Alliance for Natural Health.

Here is something to think about.

Of ALL the supplements that came out over the last 20 years. You know, the ones in all the Weider magazines that never worked. Liquid creatine that doesn’t work. The new supplement of the month that disappears in a short time because it takes a little time to realize it’s bullshit backed with bias research? Ahem, I think I even touched on this with a post yesterday.

Is this really a bad thing? To force manufactures to support their claims and show that their product is safe?

However, I want to retain my right to but vitamins without a prescription so

BUMP

Done….

This codex isn't designed to ensure customer safety; this codex is desgned purely to rid the pharmaceutical giants of their competitors.

If it were about safety, pharmaceutical drug death wouldn't be the 4th largest killer of human beings. And we wouldn't be able to buy spirits or cigarettes....

If you think anything positive will come of this, you're out of your mind.

No I don’t think anything positive will come out of this.

That was a totally separate gripe that for some reason fed into it.

This is the same move that the vets are trying to push by banning all over the counter medicines. So instead of just going to the corner store for a $2 bottle of flea wash you would now have to visit them ($40) and buy it from them ($20).

To expand on my gripe that really should have been separated from the first post. Products like everything Weider, Andros, and other crap that is touted as great with photos of fat slobs then the after photo with 225 pound 5% bf badly airbrushed head on it. These companies are NEVER held liable because they usually bankrupt and dissolve. Has Weider ever been sued for each product and claim? I never heard of it happening? Or does he just open a sub corp. for each item for protection of the parent company?

You can’t sue a company for selling a product but you can sue them for making deceptive clams even with the “results not typical” logo all over. Hopefully they will break these corporate barriers and go after the developers of the products. It just takes one lawsuit to change everything.

Personally, I have sued companies and won. Started a case in 1996 that ended up class action with a 33 million dollar settlement. Only got $30K out of it.

I am just itching to sue someone because of a bullshit product.

bump

the UK has lost it's rights to take supplements. The only way to reverse this decision is by taking the government to court. We need £250k!!!!!!

August 2005 sees the ban comes into force. From this date it will not be possible to buy vitramin C in doses larger than 90mg and b-complex in more than the RDA. Most products will dissapear.
