Diet Recommendations

Hey everybody, hows it going? This is for everyone out there. When consulting someone, what do you recommend to them for their digestive health? Do you prefer any special kind of food or do you go with supplements? I'm just curious so let me know.

Hi. My specialty is not diets, it's Pilates training. I have very high-end clientle and they want something that works and I can stand behind the Fresh Diet. It is delivered to my clients door every morning fresh. Results have been very good. They are only in a limited market area and because it's fresh, they are not Fedex'ing it across the country. See if they have a location near you.

I am curious. You are a personal trainer, right? So if your clients are asking for diet/supplementation advice then why not get some sort of additional certification and increase YOUR VALUE as opposed to merely pushing supplements for a percentage.

DIET is key when you are talking about reaching personal wellness and fitness goals.

Just eating healthy foods will make a HUGE change in the majority of people you will train. Complex carbs, good fats, real meat (not the processed and preserved bs), ect will make them feel better, shed fat, and aid in gaining muscle.
Theres some "quick and easy" results you will get credit for. The diet forum has a TON of info. As for special supps, there really are none. They are just that, supplements. They don't do much if the person doesn't take care of themself or eat right. But some that are good are:
Fish Oils (omega 3 fatty acids)
Creatine (if strength and size is a goal)
A post workout protein shake is nice if they can't eat a solid meal afterwards
Amino acids
Multi-vitamins (most people don't get all their vits covered with whole food)
Calcium (especially for post-menapausal women)

Stay away from any "gene-altering", "incredible muscle building", "mister olympia endoresed" stuff. Its all hype with little or no evidence behind it.

I have always told my clients to keep a food journal. After about 2 weeks we would go over the diet and help clean it up. I show them how to eat clean. Its just eating natural foods that your body was intended to consume. Of course, they can have a cheat meal/day in moderation and they are inspired by that. If they are looking for a diet plan then I refer them to the nutritionist in my area. He specializes in meal plans for bodybuilders but can help anyone. I also know an owner to a catering company that delivers food to your door once per week. He is into the mediterranian diet which is very healthy.
