did you get to keep your tax "rebate"?

not me!!!! i went thru the irs equation 4 times just to make sure. what a bummer!!!

this week on "the west wing", part of the dialog b/t the president and a staff member was: "was it a rebate or an advance? if we called it an advance, you would had saved it. we called it a rebate hoping you would spend it to help boost the economy".

i should be getting like 900$ back from the gov't but i haven't seen a dime of it yet and i filed quite some time ago...

they lowered the tax rates, and the "rebate" is an advance on that "savings"... kind of a dumb trick IMO

I misunderstood this too and got back $300 less on my tax return.

Plain English folks...pay closer attention to what affects YOUR money. Like how the government uses, or wastes, your taxes each and every day. Man, if they would just eliminate the payroll deduction and make every citizen mail in a check every year. Things would be different if everyone saw the money the government took from them first.

The best way to get your money back from the government is to not pay them at all...

Of course, there are serious legal implications by doing so... however, if the IRS does not audit you for 3 years, you are in the clear... as they can only go back during that period to collect or fine you.
