did the post office get those laser machines which fry bacteria?

Heard today on the news that someone has received a letter with white powder in it. But they said that there is nothing to worry about because the laser would have killed it anyway.
Do you guys know if those machines are really operational by now?
And would it change the molecular structure of our precious juice?

It's not a laser, it's the equavalent of a high powered X-ray machine.

A high powered laser would simply cut through mail.

Some of the large offices in the hot spots have them. Most don't.
