Did anyone see Spider-man 2?

Very much better.

I think the first movie was better but I am a comic book diehard and the 1st was a great movie that was about as loyal to a the comic book as a comic movie. With that said I think the sequel was very good. I will also say the CGI was much better. It looked much more real when Spidey was swinging around doing his thing and this movie was pretty funny too.

wow nobody said anything bad and there some some really harsh critics on this site. this must be a good movie.

(cue the harsh critics)

Well this isn't against the movie but the theater I was at last night got struck by lightning and the movie went out for about 10 mins.

I saw it this weekend...it was good..thought it would be better....

It was pretty good, but I was kinda disappointed.

I HEAR YOU

I went expecting to get laid by a redheaded asian virgin, get lasik done on my eyes, and maybe liposuction. NOTHING of this sort happened. I also thought MAYBE this movie, with all the hype, would have finally proven or disproven god. Once again, zilch.

this piece of trash film gets 2 thumbs down.

i saw it today, there wasnt as much action in it as the first one, i was kinda dissapointed in it but it was ok,

I liked it. We brought our 4 year old nephew with us and he liked it enough that he sat still through the whole movie...and that's pretty impressive for a kiddo his age.

It was ok, but dragged on a bit with Peter's "responsibility thing." I thought there would be a better story, and he could have at least explained to the friend what happened to his dad. Say no more, don't want to ruin anuthing for anybody. It was a good movie, but nothing spectacular. I personally think the movie "The Punisher" that had just came out with Travolta was much better, all around. With that said, yes it was "good" nothing more.

I thought it was better than the first one, it had more humor and incredible action sequences. They are really doing a good job at holding true to the original material... except for the spontaneous webs from the wrist (in the comic book Peter Parker developed a web like polymer that he must refill with cartridges occasionally). I also liked the way they are handling his relationship with mary jane. Very well done.

The movie left things open for the return of Doc Ock and the second incarnation of the Green Goblin.

I give it 5 sperms out of 5

Not entirely a correct statement. In certain incarnations of Spiderman his webs came from his body.

Overall I think the movie was a lot better. They should have added more action sequences but the CGI was amazing. The story was good, which is more than I can say for a lot of the crappy movies they have been bringing out. The Punisher was also cool as hell.

I'm surprised some of you were disappointed by it...I thought they did an awesome job with it.

Raina...did you think it was a little violent for a 4 year old? I have a friend with a son that age, and I think he'd love the movie, but parts of it (like the hospital) are pretty brutal...

Don't lie, you a-hole. You don't have a friend.

I liked it. I thought the best part of the movie was when the people in the train tried to help spidey. Seems like he always got bad pr it was nice for him to get some recognition for his sacrafices for a change.

One problem I had with the movie it no way no how could Spider-man as the character has been since he was introduced could stop a train like that. It was still cool though but Spider-man just isn't that strong. That's some Superman type shit.

I saw it this weekend, and liked it alot. I think it's better than the first one, but just a little, they are pretty even IMHO. Bruce Campbell had another awesome cameo too. :D

I still think Xmen 2 is the best comic book movie though.

Where was bruce campbell in the movie?

I agree razor there is no way he could have stopped that train unless superman let him borrow some good gear.

He was the doorman at the play.

BTW, did everyone catch the Evil Dead/Army of Darkness homage?

That was bruce campbell? I totally missed that being him. And what are you talking about the Evil Dead homage?

I don't completely agree with this statement... Superman could have stopped the train without breaking a sweat. Spiderman dam near died from trying to stop that train....

PS: I guess I'm the only guy who noticed this... Did you guys see Peter's Professor at the University? the guy missing one arm? yup... he is the one that splices his DNA with a reptile's so he can grow a new arm...
He will be in one of the next 2 spiderman movies... I call it!

Very observant. Dang, I need to start paying attention instead of pigging out on popcorn and pickels.

Well I stand firmly by my statement. I've read Spider-man comics for many years. I no longer do because I am a 31 year old man who has a life. With that said Spider-man has never attempted anything like that in the comics. He can only lift 10 tons max and a train like that has to weigh a couple hundred tons. He stopped a train like that going at full speed? I don't think so. I know it's only a movie but it's not keeping in line with that the character is supposed to be able to do. He could stop a runaway bus but not a train.

The scene in the hospital...very Evil Deadish...down to the chainsaw...

really wtf, i missed that completely.
If it's tru it'll be the next movie I hope, cause i really don;t want to see a full fledge rehash of part one with the goblin.

Actually I'd like to see some kind of mutant ALLY with spidey. Cause itd be getting a little weird that everyone who mutates or whatever automatically turns evil except spidey.

Actually I wonder what the deal would be with Dr. Strange? That would be cool if he was involved somehow. Jameson mentioned his existance. But maybe they're saving that for his own film.

Ok then... lets keep in line with the character plot:

Spiderman did not lift that train... He used his grip strength to hold on to webs that actually stopped the train. Personally I cant get 300lbs over my head, but I can easily hold the bar with that much weight on it during a Dead lift.
The dude swings from a web and works out his forearms everyday, I'm sure he can hold on to web with a death grip.

Well we aren't going to see eye to eye on this one. It's no big deal really but every single former or current comic book reader I've spoken with though has totally agreed with me on this one. Where the hell is Dusty when he's needed? This was really my only big problem with the movie. I know average movie goer doesn't even give shit either way.

I'm not necessarily a comic book fan, but the special effects were absolutely amazing and the movie was enjoyable. It's definitely a movie to watch, if only for just the special effects . . .

Green Goblin will be in the next movie, just as Harry was the second reincarnation of the Goblin in the comic book. Voices talk to him and drive him mad, he has to inject the green shit consistantly which his father did not as well, that eventually kills him.

Lizard will be the second villain seeing as they can't expect superb results if they bring back the same bad guy (though not the same) movie goers won't appreciate that unless they turn Harry into the Hobgoblin which would be stupid IMHO. John Jameson is also introduced, and he is an astronaut. THis leads me to believe that they will use him as the cartoon show did, and that is to bring back the Evil symbiote costume which spider man will for 1 movie (prob #5 unless they start the next movie with him getting it early and using it to beat the holy hell out of the two villains.) He will then discard it as it makes him very rageful and willing to kill, and then enter Venom, which if done right could be the COOLEST CG character ever!! thats just my two cents

YES!!!!! I thought the same thing! The lack of music, the "panic" camera shots from the bad guys view (doc oc's arms), when he broke out the chainsaw I knew what Raimi was up to. It would have been better if Bruce was one of the doctors. :D

I think some other guys in my theater did as well as a few guys yelled out "HELL YEAH" during that scene. The crowd was really into this movie, that was cool.

Yeah, I was one of the few that laughed at that scene, but I had heard about it before I saw the movie...awesome reference.

It would've been cool if Bruce had been the doctor that went for the chainsaw, but I think that might've been a little TOO much...

Good catch one the Astronaut reference... Yup that could be the way the Bio-Suit gets brought back to earth... If they bring in Venom do you think Carnage is far behind?
The way the two movies have been unfolding, the writers are putting a lot of time into character developement. In Spiderman2 I think we had more scenes with Peter crying that kicking ass. I doubt they can bring in two bad guys in one movie, it would completely cut short all the drama scenes. I think that if the Greengoblin makes a come back he will colaborate with Spiderman to bring down a villain (Lizard?) and the green Juice Greengoblin is injecting won't make him go crazy until maybe the 4th - 5th movie.
They have to keep the new Greengoblin around for another 2 movies since he is part of the three main characters, the writers have to bring another character to the front(or introduce a new one) in order to fill the holes in the Plot that will be left by an early exit of Peter's best friend (Greengoblin's kid)...
I predict they will keep the Greengoblin around for another 2 movies, until he goes out of control and Spiderman has to off his ass. I wouldn't hold my breath to see Venom, in order to have an awesome Venom character that can be true to the comic book, Hollywood needs at least another 3-4 years of CGI technology under it's belt. The Teeth the tounge the green spit, all that shit needs to look legit on screen.

Doc Connors says in the movie that Dr. Octavius was a friend of his. When he becomes the Lizard he may go the way of his friend. Just like in the Batman movies the villains tend to die at the end. In the comics and cartoons Connors is saved.

Nice cameo from Willem Dafoe as his 'mirror ghost'.
