5,000 e-fatties are out there roaming seeking a home
Elite social networking site BeautifulPeople.com caused a stir this week after its members voted to oust some 5,000 users from its site for becoming less, well, beautiful.
The dating site, which describes itself as an "exclusively beautiful community," ousted the users for gaining weight over the holidays in what appears to be an attempt at some publicity.
"As a business, we mourn the loss of any member, but the fact remains that our members demand the high standard of beauty be upheld. Letting fatties roam the site is a direct threat to our business model and the very concept for which BeautifulPeople.com was founded," Robert Hintze, the community's founder, said in a statement according to the New York Daily News.
Potential members are only allowed entrance into the community after a 48-hour period where current members vote on the applicant's beauty.
It may be an ugly policy, but the Web buzz created by the move will undoubtedly prove to be a thing of beauty for Hintze and team.
