dht inhibitor

Great question. My dht goes through the roof and my hair falls out and my prostate acts up. I want to know also.

This cycle's approach is to make selections that may not produce so much. I'm upping the eq and lowering the test.

Avodart from Glaxo or Fin from Merck. Both are DHT inhibitors, Avodart being the more effective of the two. Glaxo's drug inhibits type 1 and type 2 5AR, Fin only blocks type 1. Avodart claims 90% reduction in DHT after 2 weeks. I wouldn't take either, but my hair doesn't fall out and I kinda like the tingling sensation in my prostate! Although some research indicates Saw Palmetto is as effective in reducing DHT in the prostate as Finasteride.

Hey Vertigo I decided not to take the avodart because I thought that it lowers the test levels. do you think that it is futile to take test and avodart together? when I read the circular about the avodart it is classified as a androgen hormone inhibitor. although the claim is that it reduces the size of the prostrate. will this drug interfere with the testosterone therapy?

A study published by Olsen et. al. in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology 2006; 55(6): 1014-1023 indicates the action of Avodart on serum T levels. The primary action is the inhibition of 5 alpha reductase which coverts T to DHT. I think its unlikely that Avodart would significantly interfere with T levels during a typical high dose AAS cycle to the point that the user's desired positive nitrogen balance and increased protein synthesis is negatively effected. In fact this particular study showed a 22% mean baseline increase over 4 years with Avodart therapy alone with a 95% reduction in DHT. BTW, Avodart is about twice as potent as Finasteride. The obvious caveat is some individuals will experience reactions not seen in the control group. Adverse effects will always find their way into widespread use.

Wow thanks bro. You are very thorough. have you heard of any loss of libido or such sides with the avodart? I think I am going to start it soon

Loss of libido was one of the most common side effects seen in the majority of published studies.

I took avodart on TRT before...it pretty much rendered my TRT ineffective. My test levels did go up, but no positive effects were felt, no libido boost or muscle gain. [It did however keep me from losing even a strand of hair. Finasteride doesn't work on me very well] Of course, trt is only 200 mg a week at best, so if you're doing a real cycle I'm sure Avodart can't neutralize all the pos. effects.
