Dental question?

Do gums grow back? I recently had a route canal and a tooth extracted and now my gums slightly cave in near the missing tooth. I had my bridge put in today and it looks funny near the top because there is a gap where my gums should be. Does anybody know if they will grow back? I called my dentist and got two different answers.

I had a couple of teeth where the Gum had receeded.
They had to fill the tooth at the top around the outside to cover the part of the tooth that the gum once covered.

IMO they don't generally grow back in the area you are describing.

I must have a fucked up dentist because i don't think a root canal is supposed to leave your gums fucked up like that. Man I better get some damn answers today. Now they want me to drive all the way back out there so we can discuss it. $2g's and I still have a big gap, this is getting aggravating.
