Hey guys I just found out I have to have 2 of my back teeth extracted. I'm already missing 2 back there to begin with. Do you guys know if they can put like crowns in if there is no tooth there? I was too upset over it to ask my dentist when I was there.

Implants? That sucks, anyone ever have that done and know what the procedure/price is like? I think my dentist said crowns were around $1600 so I'm guessing implants would be quite a bit more. Anyone know if this is a fairly simple procedure or is it more like surgery?

I guess the cavity is down into the root. Thats what the dentist said. I don't know why they can't just do a root canal.

If you have the money Dentist can/will do anything!!!!

Even though it may not be right! LOL

ouch..thats why i brush

LOL, I brush too, I think its from when I had to wear braces for 3 yrs. Its the teeth in the back that the metal bands were around that I'm having problems with.

I would get another dentinst to look at it. I know a friend that had a REALLY bad molar with the cavity going through the root. I have had one also, but the tooth was healthy on the outside and it was an exray that revealed the damage, guess the cavity started below the gumline. Sometimes the root on the tooth gets attacked from the bottom. So sometimes brusing has little to do with it.

Anyway, the only time you can not perform a root canal is if the tooth's structural integrity is too far gone. But for that to happen there really has to be VERY extensive damage. BUt in most cases it can be saved with a root canal and a crown to support structural integrity. So if your dentist can not explain to you why you are not a candidate for a root canal then go to another dentist. Remember that dentists are money driven, and a root canal is not something a dentist performs. He will usually have a soecialist come in or refer you to one.

How is the shape of your tooth? Is it rotten and chipped below the gumline, or is it whole with just a deep cavity?

Sincerely :nopity:

I took a 40ft fall mountaineering 2 years ago.. Mashed my left cheek bone up, and crushed jaw.. Lots of boken teeth too.. I've had so many oral surgeries since then, I've lost count.. The implants were the worst.. I was in the chair for 3 hours, no sedation.. They pulled 7 teeth, and 3 that had broken off above my gum line.. The guy also had to move some jaw bone round to build the base up for some of the implant posts.. That was maybe the worst part..... If you decide to go with the implants, get dental coverage first.. I had to cut my periodontist a check for $13,000 for that torture.. Even with only 2 teeth, it will still be pricey.. And dont let your general dentist do it !! Those guys fuck everything up.. Go to a Periodontist.. Mine healed real quick ( considering the amount of work done ).. All said and done, I am happy I went with them.. They look great, and work great.. Oh, one more thing, dont get them yanked until you know what your're doing for sure.. They need have to put the posts in right after the tooth is extracted.. Good luck bro..

Thanks guys. Both teeth have recently chipped (not sure if chipped below gumline also) I was just told that there is a procedure where they can attach a fake tooth to one of the teeth next to the extracted one. If that is possible in my case I'm thinking that would be the best way to go. I do have dental insurance but I'm not sure if I can find a good dentist in my area that will be covered.
