Forget what everyone else around you is lifting/thinking. Just train HARD to YOUR levels of failure. And DON'T get tempted into that frame of mind of moving tons of weight as the primary goal (if you're a bodybuilder as opposed to a powerlifter.) I see it all the time at gyms, guys "lifting" way more weight than they can handle while cheating their asses off and their spotter is lifting half the weight. It's better to use a weight you can handle with good form than lots of weight with crappy form (although controlled cheating does have its place.) I do admit that it turns me on to see the bar bending under the weight as I squat, for example, but always use good form.
I notice too how small ordinary people seem now, especially guys who I haven't seen in awhile. I saw a guy at the gym tonight who I used to think was really big, and I'm bigger than him now. Of course, I never forget that it's all relative--If I were standing next to Markus Ruhl, I'd still be puny!!!!!!!! The weirdest thing was with the "biggest" man in my life--my Dad--this Thanksgiving. I hadn't seen him in 2 cycles, and even though he is the same weight as always, he seemed tiny to me. It was almost awkward as I engulfed him with a hug.
