Delt injection technique: Straight in or at angle?

Hey, I've searched the archives and get conflicting viewpoints. I've also downloaded several PDF documents dealing with IM vaccination injections and they disagree too. After that, I hit spotinjections (which seems to use the 90° angle straight in approach) and 2Thick's Web site (which uses the 45° - 65° angle).

The idea for the upward angled injection seems to be that it follows the muscle fiber; the straight-in approach I've not seen a rationale behind (but wonder if it's more or less that there will be less travel between where the point is inserted versus where the injection is deposited).

This would be my first delt injection, I need to inject tonight so I'm kinda freaked  I've always injected glutes before.

Can somebody talk about how they inject delt? (I know it's been covered, but like I said above, I haven't found exactly what I'm looking for in my searches).

Help appreciated.

it really isnt a big deal.....i just go in to the side delt straight in from the side....so i guess it would be at an angle perpendiuclar to the side delt.

Yeah, I know that rationally. I don't know why I'm being such a pussy about it. Guess it's cause I haven't shot anywhere in a year-and-a-half, and I've never shot delts...

So, you go in at 90° -- use a 1-incher I take it?

yes sir...use a 25g and you will barely feel. i truely believe i got good side delt development from it.

Have any helpful hints (i.e. sitting/standing, resting arm on a countertop, etc...)? Also, shouldn't be a problem to put in 1.25 cc?

Thanks...

give it a 1, 2, 3 count and dart that bitch in there. if your using a 25 g, you'll barely feel it. just let your arm dangle and send it in, no worries!!!

that volume should be no problem....i just bring my delt in front of me and put it in there....if my girl is here she will push the plunger in for me since i am a unflexable s.o.b. but if i am alone i just push against the wall with my delt that i am not injecting so i can reach. i have put 3cc's in there tons of times with no problem.

good luck.

You aren't afraid of hitting a nerve or something? Just stab it in huh? I've always gone in slow and consistently... Is there anything bad in that area you can hit?

Well, I've got to inject it myself -- pretty flexible yet but a little worried about aspirating. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

nah dude, whether u go in slow or just dart it in, if there's a nerve there it's still gonna be there, viens, etc. i've had my shoulder jerk too, but once i get that bitch in there, i'm not doing it again, like i said, 1, 2, 3 dart it in, plunger, exhale and it's over in 2 seconds, well i'm shooting winny, so it might take u longer depending on what u shooting, now c'mon, stop being a bitch and get it over with!!!

I go straight in. For aspirating I hold the dart between my thumb and ring finger and pull the plunger with my index and middle finger. Hope that helps. It's really not that bad bro it's just doing it the first time that sucks.

So, you just pierce the nerve... dayum... I guess there is something to what you say though...

I'm working on it, I'm working on it!!! lol
:D

Shoot tonight after the gym...

Yeah that does help. Thanks!

I left one thing out, i never asperate, never!!! I think that's why Alien Amp Pharm was so dam sore after his first one, cause it can be pretty nerve racking to put the pin in, then try to asperate, and then nail the plunger down, i'm just one of the few that doesn't asperate...good luck Machine, watch out for those nerve endings....lol

Sticking the pin in had no pain what-so-ever, but I was sore for over a week afterwards (1st delt injection).

Aspirating is a little awkward. - The pin moved around some while I did this.

More than likely the reason for being sore was due to moving the pin while aspirating. Happened to me the first couple times.

Oh yeah machine I use a 5/8" needle for delts

Yeah, probably why he was sore... I'm still aspirating though...

Thanks for the warning on the nerve endings... lol... we'll see how it goes.

Thanks for the info on the needle size -- I'll probably try 1" this time around as it is what the vaccination documents recommend for adults -- they do use the 5/8" for kids though -- at ~10% bf, I'm not sure I'm lean enough to get away with a shorter needle length...

Yes, the pin moved around quite a bit. Aspirating is difficult in that area plus the bigger one gets the harder it is to reach across the body with the other arm, not to mention the mental pressure of a new injection site.

Troybday: I use to never aspirate, but never hit a vein, luckily. I suppose it's a risk to take. (I aspirate now, though)

Machine: Well, have you did it yet? I'm curious. It kinda puts the pressure on when you've got a thread on the injecting. :)

Yup, went ahead and did it :) The shot itself went pretty smoothly, but I had a hard time getting the oil through a 25 ga pin. I heated it somewhat, I think I need to heat it longer. (Also, I'm out of 18 ga pins, so I had to draw with a 23 -- which was a major pain in the ass -- had to heat the vials, blah, blah, blah).

Got it loaded up, went with a 7/8" needle, crossed my injecting hand in front of my body and braced the back of my wrist on a wall corner; snugged my body up to the corner so that my injecting arm was braced between the wall corner and my body (to keep my injecting hand steady), and just hit the the spot. Went in no pain, very easy.

Aspirating sucked, not sure I did a great job, but after a couple moments fumbling, I decided it was passable -- depressed the plunger and had to jam on that fucker to move the oil (test and deca). By the end, my hand was shaking so bad I looked like I had parkinson's -- next time will heat better.

This morning I am somewhat sore (feels like somebody punched me in the arm) -- this is probably from moving around a little more than I would have liked. I will heat it better next time so that it aspirates and shoots easier...

Anyway, end result = 1 delt injection, 1.25 cc, 400 mg deca/525 mg test

Hell yeah! Congrats bro.

I think everyone faces the 'moving the pin around too much' when they attempt a first injection, especially delts. I know I did, cause I was sore for a while.

:alien:

i bet it was such a load off your shoulders, and i don't mean the creamy kind. congrats bro, nice job! I have 2 shots left, then i'm done with my first real cycle!!! Isn't it fun?

About time pussy! :D jk Good job bro. See not bad at al. Hell if your like me your probably looking forward to your next one. Take care.

lol... There are those that have waffled longer! Nah, wasn't too bad... not sure if test and deca in the shoulder is the way to go, I'll see how long this delt stays sore... I have already been thinking about the next one though. Take it easy :)
