deload in westside type split?

Hi, is there a need to do a deload in westside training? I am currently doing a westside split from a 5x5 bill starr type workout. I know that in the westside method you change max effort lifts every 1-3 weeks, however, is there a need to deload after about 6 weeks or so to give your body a break. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

what do you mean by you are doing a westside split from the 5x5? that is kind of a contradictory statement....

what I meant was that I was doing 5x5 prior to the current westside split

gotcha. there really is no need to deload, provided that you are changing up your ME exercise every 2-3 weeks.
