Hey Bros,
I think Deca-Dick is a very misunderstood topic. Alot of newbies just figure they will be ok, but than mid-cycle end up with limp noodle syndrome. Hopefully this post will help everyone avoid it.
The reasons why Deca causes this problem are, decrease in DHT production, decrease or total inhibition of LH (Leutinizing Hormone) production, and a stopping of GnRH (Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone.) DHT is an androgen created by the coversion of testosterone in the prostate. Deca does not convert to DHT, and is therefore deactivated in the scalp and a wise choice for those prone to hairloss. However, DHT has a big impact on testicle function, since deca does not convert to DHT, but will stop natural test production more so than any other androgen, it can wreak havoc on libido. Deca has the ability to bind tightly to receptors in the brain that shut off GnRH production and therefore limiting FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone) and LH. Since LH is responsible for triggering the testicles to produce testosterone, any inhibition will slow or halt this process, which is why natural test is shut off so quickly with deca. Sexual desire is usually associated with the increased level of cortisol in relationship to the levels of catecholamines in the brain. The catecholamines are the good feeling brain chemicals and when cortisol exceeds a certain level those chemicals start to decrease. Deca, because of its high binding affinity also raises cortisol levels very high, therefore decreasing sexual desire over time. It takes a long time for cortisol levels to stabilize if left untreated.
There are a few things u can do to prevent this from happening. The first is to limit your deca use to 100mg/wk. Now unless u are using deca for joints only, this is not a practical dose. If using deca in higher amounts it would be wise to use a testosterone in a 2:1 ratio to avoid this problem. Another method is to use regular hcg shots and clomid throughout your cycle. This will work because the clomid would stop the down-regulation of the hpta while the hcg directly stimulates LH. However, continuous use of hcg can have serious side-effects.
Hope this helps to clarify this problem. Post any questions u might have.
