Sorry, I just like seeing my name up top so many times.

Seriously though, I'm pissed at my gym. Someone broke the weight belt (for dips/chins etc.) and they said they ordered a new one. Today, it's been 2-3 weeks and still no belt. I'm about to just buy my own.

buy your own. You'd be better off getting your own that way you wont have to wait for the next guy to get done using it.

I will be soon. Funny you should say that though, I've never seen another person use it there, ever. I've also never seen a guy deadlift, EVER, and I've only seen like 5 guys barbell squat, and only 1 had decent (not great) form.

I keep breaking the one at my gym but its always fixed by the time I go back in

Jus buy some 3/8" chain and get a hook for it. It won't break...

No need for a belt...just use the chain.

lol.....I see a dude use a dip belt (the one w/ the chain) as a weight belt. Some people I will never understand.

That's funny as hell. Actually, there are enough big guys at my gym that the belt is actually used for weighted dips and chins, and the power rack actually has guys squating in it most days. Some of the guys there actually are on a 5X5 right now. Then again, a few of them frequint the EF board, but don't post very often.

Seriously though, if weighted dips are important to your routine, you might want to invest in your own belt.

my school gym is gay enough to never have never had a chain belt for dips and chins. what i do instead is use is the large weight belt on the loosest notch. stick one of a dumbbell in there. as long as you aren't too big around the waist, you can use this method for even large dumbbells (90lb+).

This reminds me of the days when I took a .5" cotton rope and towel to the gym to do weighted chins and dips. I'd wrap the towel around my waist, tie a length of rope around that a few times to even out the pressure a bit, then tie on the weights.

I was always afraid that the knot would come undone, so I usually tied them very tight. More than once, it was hard to undo the knot, and I was left with 2 wheels hanging off me for awhile (d'oH!).

Definitely, buy your own belt. I've learned to never count on my gyms when equipment gets damaged...my current one, a decent Gold's, is good about it but all the others were slooooooooow.

I can reccomend the ironmind deriguer belt, I think it's rated for something in the region of 4000lbs and its very comfortable :)
