Dear George

I have an idea on how to finance the boards.
Charge $5.00 per person to access the entire site.
Before you think i'm crazy just hear me out.
If you keep just half the members that's $50,000 per month profit to you, minus your expenses, and it would look more reasonable to newcomers.
I wouldn't mind $5 a month, and i don't think anyone else would either.

Also i think it would actually attract some people just for the mere fact that you have to pay to use the site.A good example is nobody takes free advice, but when you pay for it you take as much as you can.

And since you are already charging for the other fourms, you should just go ahead and charge for the entire site now and get it out of the way now, instead of doing everything a little bit at a time.
It would be an excellent business move to do it the way i suggested . You will make more money in the long run and it won't be so hard on the members.

Just my opinion,
Dillon

a good idea for sure bro, but i am sure george has gone through every possible scenerio we can think of and has proposed the best one.

Guys, the difference between the cost of Platinum and $5 per month is the price of a Hamburger. I hope you will support the site with a platinum membership.

i dont think no-ones gonna leave, and if anyone does they would have probably left anyway

most are just whining 'cos all the hot booty we've cometolove will be gone

at the end of the day, this will keep elite alive by not having whoever was pissed at the boards no longer pissed, create a good number of susbscribers, and crucially as frackal, you and many others have pinted out allow us access to the core boards, anabolic, training and chat and convo (3's pushing it but its where i come the most :) )

i think this site was first set up to promote intelligent anabolic freely. i may be wrong. thats why i like the arrangement just as it were.

Danielson,

Can we count on your support?

From a business point of view, $5 a month would yield more profits on a board like this, or better even $4.99.
It's just not that much to pay.
But $12 is getting in the area where people will leave, And you can't have the attitude of "well just leave then" because that's not very good business, if you loose the good customers, the bad ones will run off the other potential profits that you might be able to gain from advertising and such.

Something to remember regarding funding needed to run a site:

Bandwidth and staff can easily eat through 50K/month.
As an example, a good buddy runs a very well known tech site.
The overhead for this site is very near 70K/month.

Premium housing at a datacenter is about 25K/month.
Ten technical staff members for 24/7 support of the hardware runs about 40K/month.

So at this point we're looking at 65K/month.

Of course, George could always massive ammounts of wireless bandwidth, distribute the site over thousands of shared folders and hire nothing but interns to maintain and develop the site.
