Deadlifts with legs or back?

Bros,

Do you do DLs with legs or with back?

If I did them with legs it'd mean I'd be doing squats in the same workout, whereas if I did them with back I'd be doing pull-ups and rows in the same workout.

Which would be better?

Separate your deadlifts from your squats to allow for recovery of the large common muscle groups they share

So do you think I should do DLs, pull-ups and rows all in the one day, and then squats on a separate day? Or should I split back and legs into two workouts allowing me to do squats with rows and pull-ups with DLs?

I'm mainly doing core exercises at the moment with a couple of sets of isolation exercises at the end... and I'm on a 4 day split.

The main focus of any of my splits is to seperate DLs and squats with as much time in between as possible, since it takes a bit for me to recover from both. DLs on back day and squats on leg day.

it all dpends on how youre set up..i pull after squats on DE day..it keeps me honest since in comp ulling is done last when youve hopefully already put up a monster squat and bench..not to mention its the least equipped lift out of the 3

i would say try both and see whats better for you..obviously if you squat then pull most likely youll have to use less wieght on your deads until you can build up ur GPP

When I trained as a "bodybuilder" I would do them at the near end of back day.

As a "strength athlete" I do them after my box squats or at the end of my ME/Events day.

No way you should be doing Squat and Deadlifts on the same day, both take alot of time to recover from and you could end up dropping some weight if ya do too much on one of your previous exercises.. Jus in my opinion anyways.. But I do all my Squats and Leg Presses for Leg day and then usually for my 1st workout on back day I hit up deadlifts because I'm fresh and I usually wanna hit up my mass building exercises 1st. So it'd be wiser to split those 2 workouts up, You'll see better gains because of recovery.

I like to do deads last on back day (normally).

I have never squatted and deaded in the same workout. They are essentiually the same move with the bar in a different place!

Separate the two workouts as much as possible:

My Split:

Day 1: Chest + Bis
Day 2:Thighs & Calves (squat)
Day 3: OFF - cardio
Day 4: Shoulders & Triceps
Day 5: Back
Day 6: Abs, Calves, Cardio
Day 7: OFF

Very similar to Dorian Yates' ultimate routine.

I've always split them up just because of the intense workout either of the two take from you. I usually have them staggered witha day in between. Just my 2 cents.

What about deads and box squat in the same workout ?

I personally always seperate back and legs. Deads work the back so I don't do them on leg day. I find that it takes too much away from the body part I am trying to work when I attempt to throw too many heavy movements into the same workout.

Squats seem to tap the same area, even though it is just a little bit, that deads target. In my mind I would rather wait a few days before I try to distroy the back just to make sure I get the maximum benefit.

That is just the way I do it.
