Deadlifting set

Hey,

as im doing serie of 5, should i do all five straight up or can i take few breaths between reps, like 30secs?

Im currently on rippetoes 3x5 and find it hard to do all five, i get dizzy and stuff and need some time to go for another one, does it mean missed serie ?

Thanks

Take a few breaths but I wouldn't rest 30 seconds. You can deweight at the bottom and take a few breaths or lockout and take a few breaths (just don't relax and let all the weight shift to your lower back ligaments). I'd say 10 seconds max.

What he said. For general DL training, you should take the time to deweight the bar fully on the floor rather than doing them touch-and-go. This will also give you a chance to reset so you don't get sloppy with your form.

Anything too far beyond that, let alone 30 seconds, is a series of singles.

When I did Dead Lifts, I did them like any other exercise. When I complete one rep I take enough time for enough breath and to re-adjust my form if need be and go right back at it. I try to fire off my reps like a piston in an engine, with precision, good timing, and as much power as I can muster.

I dont know, even with 200lbs, bar goes up easily but i feel so light headed after few reps and out of breath. I do deweight it to the floor but i have to stand up for the breath and then continue.

What do you think should i reset the wieght few weeks back or continue doing 2-3 reps, catching breath 10-20secs and finish my set ?

Though in rippetoe its only one set of five but same day is heavy squat do so its hard =)

Sounds like a breathing issue DURING the lift, if you're lightheaded after a few reps, youre not breathing properly. They should be tough, and out of breath isn't too out there, but if you get light headed everytime you deadlift, it sounds like your breathing.

When ready to pull, i take deep breath through my stomech, push stomach out and breath out when im back down.
Is this correct ?

Practice, practice, practice. You're adapting. Pretty soon, your conditioning will catch up and you'll have no problems. Just keep working at it. Keep in mind that the deadlift is the maximum pull your body can muster. It uses a lot of muscles and is very taxing. It will wind you.

I take some deep gut breaths in teh bottom, then pull, sometimes releasing a little bit on the way up if it's a hard rep. then I breathe out at the top and set it back down. And repeat. It's not complicated. Just keep a tight core and a belly for of air whenever you're putting your spine under load.
