deadlifting neck strain

Well after deadlifting a heavy set of 5 yesterday, i strained the back of my neck right after it? then maybe a few mins after it went away. And now that i wake up today, where it pulled on, it hurts. Is this from improper form?
 
probably just leading with your head/neck too much. Are you keeping a neutral head/eye position (roughly straight ahead) or are you pulling back looking at the ceiling.

At least you go heavy enough you have to strain! Ice it down, take some ibprofen, try stretching it a little.
 
It's not uncommon to get tension-related headaches after a heavy pulling session. You just took it a stage further.

Be more alert to your body's needs as an independent, self-willed being.

Hang on, that's women, isn't it? Never mind.
 
lol, well i might be leading too much with my head, i wasn't paying attention to that, but i know i keep eye contact with my body in the mirror (yes, i know bad habbit, but the weight room is completely surrounded by mirrors..) It probably wasn't a serious strain because it doesn't hurt anymore, but i don't want to take any chances of seriously messing something up.
