Deadlift PR: 315

Not a bad back day.

Deadlifts:

135x6
185x3
225x2
275x1
315x1 <--- PR
325xmiss
260x6

Form was poor on the 315, the back being somewhat rounded off the ground.

Barbell rows:

115x6
135x6
145x6
155x2

Lat pulldowns:

130x6
140x6
150x5

EZ-bar curls:

70x8

Felt weak by this point, so the curls sucked.

Good job bro!!! One thing that's very important is your explosiveness from the hips, practice that and you'll be jacking more weight then you've ever imagined!!! Congrats on the PR BRUTHA!!!

thanks everyone, checks are in the mail.

i tried 325 twice, but didn't move it off the ground at all. i don't know if that indicates a specific weakness, or just that i was tired and the weight was finally too heavy. however, it might be useful, because i think i can complete the pull, as long as i get it off the ground even a little bit.

patsfan, i think you're right about the hips. i think that if i strengthen them, and the glutes and hams, i will be able to generate a lot more power off the ground.

the way i pull, my starting position is similar to when i'm "in the hole" at the bottom of a squat (but not quite that far down). i hope that improving my squat (my ability to push up out of the hole) will make me stronger while pulling off the ground during a deadlift by strengthening the muscles in and around the butt/hips.

to improve explosiveness, should i do speed deads? any other exercises which will help me off the floor? maybe pulling off a platform or mats?

suggestions are welcome.

Well done.

I was looking at it your approach to it and are you usre that pyramiding up to it like that is the best way to determine your max? Maybe one or two warmups at 200 and then try a fresh max?

Taking an estimate based on what you show, your real max is probably closer to 340 or 350.
