Deadlift only workout?

It was a good workout.
I did deads today 5 X 5 195, felt like a train wreck.....Don't think I could do that many sets.....good job bro, your gonna feel that tomorrow.

I felt it before I got home from the gym! From my spine erectors to my latismus dorsi.....tight as piano cords! It's a good feeling though!
 
From time to time it's good to just go balls out on an exercise with no acc work. It's fun and it can stimulate needed growth through low volume and high intensity. We sometimes end up squatting only on max effort day and the next day I will do all the other stuff I missed.

its been said before but how could you resist doing 500?? unless of course you know you can do more which is very possible based on the volume of your earlier sets. good job bro. i love deads. they never leave me in the middle of the night and steal my children...
 
I've done a rack pull with 5 plates. It never even crossed my mind to add some small change to the ends.

Impressive deadlift, SDM.

It's also great to see the looks on people's faces at the gym when five plates leaves the ground.

Great work, I need to do a deadlift only session here pretty soon it's been a while.

nice DL. Great volume. I imagine if you would have cut down to 2 sets of 5 with 405 you might have gone above 500. Imho
 
If you don't believe in deadlifts ( and I know people on Elite do, for the most part ), then take it from me, just one day after my deadlift workout my trapezius muscles and my rhomboids are absolutely smoked!

Most people wouldn't intuitively guess that deadlift would have much effect on muscles involved in scapular adduction, but they do! Most would consider doing some sort of a rowing motion (which is good) to hit these muscles, but there is something about locking out a huge amount of weight that really annihilates your upper back!

Honestly, I'm not sore in my legs, hips, or lowerback..... I thought I would be sore in my lower back (erector spinae also) due to the poundages, but I am not. I feel good. I think I'm going to hit my back from a different plane of motion today when I get done w/ Bench! Training back rocks balls! It is so resilliant and can be trained from so many angles!
