Deadlift help needed

Hey folks, well even lurking you guys have helped me immensely with my routien and lifts. I have finally started figuring out how to lift smarter, and not just harder, so now some gains are really coming along. On to my question for ya.

This past weekend I maxed deadlifts for the first time, but on my final 2 attempts I couldn't complete the lift, I was having trouble a few inches off the floor, what kind of exercises can I do to improve this part of my lift? The folks watching me swore that I should have made it, but I just got stuck and couldn't get past that few inches off the floor sticking point.

Help please?

Oh, this was my lift tries I have only been deadlifting for 6 weeks now, but it is an amazing workout.
1x225
1x265
1x295
1x315
1x335
2x355 Failed a few inches up.

Thanks for the insprations and help.

It would help to see some video. Do you lift sumo or conventional? They are very different.

If conventional, sound's like you may have a form issue (not using legs enough), but it is likely that your low back is just not strong enough. I think max suspended good mornings are good for this problem. Look under some of B Fold's posts. They do these all of the time.

I am doing conventional deads. I believe my form is overall pretty good, but I know it was slipping on the last few tries near my max.

The sticking point seemed to be about 3 - 4 inches off the ground, Backlash can you confirm?

Yeah, it was stopping about 4-5 inches off the ground.

Also, I would definitely say that on the heavier weights you weren't using your legs enough. On one (295 or 315?) you pretty much straightened your legs completely about halfway up, then used your lower back to lock it out - it hurt me just watching it :).
