Deadliest Martial Art - Juko Kai!!!!

A caveat on Krav Maga.

Make sure of your instructors credentials. I guess this applies to any art, but I have heard of it happening a lot with Krav Maga.

I hate to say it, but any martial art that claims to be different than any other art because it is the art of "elite special forces" etc, etc is usually bullshit.

Krav Maga has a cool sales pitch, but I doubt they have discovered any new way of kicking ass. There are only so many ways to knee someone in the balls, or elbow them in the face. The clip of the Krav Maga training institute looked like a Tae-bo class.

Its all the same.

There is a HUGE difference, at least with Krav Maga...for the most part each blow these guys throw are thrown with the intent to KILL or SEVERLEY injure you...jabs to the throat, pressure points, breaking bones, choking you out is some of the things commonly seen with krav maga... i wonder if its similar to what steven segal does...im not sure what form of martial arts he has studied..

That would be Akido (Japanse circular techniques). Lots of open hand - very little striking (fist). Also alot of sword use.

But going back a few posts - someone mentioned how their girlfriend/best friend's cat groomer says Akido is really cool - but useless in a fight.

It's like B Fold said - it's more the person (and their abilities) then just the system.

Krav Maga is a combat technique, not a martial art

Martial art is a form of combat where you perform as a sport and learn something like discipline.
Unfortunaley Krav Maga in the US is associated to wannabe commando, the type of fuck that read soldier of fortune and think wearing camo on sunday is cool.

I did Karate, Tai Chi, Tai Jitsu, Judo, Savate, kick boxing and my fav is krav maga.

It is not a martial art, it is was made for particular reasons which is hand to hand combat thats all. Karate is BS, ok for sport, Judo is cool, not cool if you fight a lefty :(. Tai Jitsu was kinda fun,
Savate was boooooooooring and kickboxing as BS as Karate.

Krav Maga as techniques where in particular situation you will react, example someone
attacking you from behind, or grab your side arms from behind etc...

As for real street fighting A real fight, krav maga is my choice in line with 'boxing'
90% of all martial art are useless in a real situation fight.

and for the people that think Kung Fu will save their asses one day, if you want a real kung fu fight I hope the guy in front of you he also a KF practicioner.

and no, wannabe Seagal is Aikido I cant stand that guy!

Krav Maga has been popular in socal for a couple years now. It's the current "it" self defense technique.. alot of loser Hollywood schmoes take it nowadays just to say they know it. I've seen classes with lots of normal housewives and soccer moms enrolled too.. I guess they weren't told of the hitting-the-head-on-the-wood part just yet.

I wonder how different it is from the hand-to-hand combat skills taught in the US Military. I haven't taken Krav Maga and I'm not in the military.. so I have no idea. Does Krav Maga have the ol' fish hook to the mouth, eye gouge, and ear tear that they teach you in the US Mil?

I've always been a fan of Muay Thai. Just the fighting posture of that style makes you look like a badass.

Plus Sagat on Street Fighter was the best. Tiger, tiger, UPPERCUT! You're my bitch, Guile.

Steven Segal is an actor. The reason he looks like such badass is because he has a choreographer and the people "attacking" him are actors too.

I guess Krav Maga is different because the point of most martial arts attacks is to scare or at most startle an attacker, not actually injure or (gasp)kill.

j/k

Aikido is an amazing art, but in order to pull off any of those moves, you have to study for literally decades. I have only met one person in my life who could actually apply aikido effectively. He owns a school in Greenville, SC and has trained for over thirty years, many of which were in Japan.

Bullshit, he was(for many years) the highest ranking American in Aikido under Ueshiba. He is a badass.

I've never studied Krav Maga, so my intention here is not to disrespect it, but just as a heads up, people have been coming up with styles under the exact same premise as this for many years. These things come and go.

He was never the highest ranking american. I dont know where you are getting this from.

Regardless, he is not a badass. He is an actor. If aikido was really effective and efficeient, then name one fighter, ever, in any mixed martial arts event, than has used a wristlock or some other aikido technique to win a fight.

Pride, UFC, KOTC, Gladiators, Extreme Fighting, IVC, any event, ever.

Just one.
