Deadliest Martial Art - Juko Kai!!!!

Immortal Juicer

Well-known member
Did anyone see the Top 10 marital arts on TLC? They had some good ones like brazilian JJ and Thai boxing, then they had some dumbass redneck who taught "Juko Kai."

They trained to be able to take hits. Hits to the "throat" (sternum), side, and groin. It was fucking hilarious!!

To demonstrate what a badass he was, the founder lifts his arms and has his student kick him in each side of his ribs. He took it and his students started clapping. Like this guys "combat chi" made his bones stronger than a normal persons. The kick was totally pulled and couldnt hurt a fly.

Then to simulate "multiple attackers" this black guy takes a hit to the throat, punch in the chest and a kick in the groin!! What good is that going to do you? You are still getting your ass beat.

I cant believe anyone actually believes that guy's bullshit or pays to learn it for that matter.

They practiced being choked by strangling each other with a giant rubber band. I'd rather learn a counter. Like that shit is going to do you any good if Rickson Gracie has a choke on you!

I taped it and have watched it a million times laughing my ass off. Its sad what people will believe.

I've learned that any martial art where they tell you how to attack someone in order for them to do a move is bullshit.

I dont know how that dude sells his style to people: "when he throws a right, I take it in the face.....when he throws a kick, I take it in the body....if you fuck up and dont get hit, its OK, just regroup and expose your groin for the next shot." "After many years of training and meditation, a Juko Kai will be able to take an ass beating by as many as three attackers simultaneously!"

 Yeah, sign me up.

Its like when Homer Simpson got shot and said "its ok, I think the bone stopped the bullet."

Its all about being a ninja or a shaolin kung fu master, thats what life is about. I knew shaolin was going to be #1.
The Juko Kai stuff was crazy, I was like "no way can this mothertrucker take one of my punches" or anyone for that matter, I'd break his frigging bone structure. Also, like Immortal Juicer said "whats the point of it", seemed like they had to be in a trance or state of meditation if you will, to execute or take those blows, so if I want to fight one of the Juko guys I have to say "ok, hold on, I'll let you get focused so you can take my fist to your adams apple?" Kind of crazy/ridiculous. peace

Yeah, I watched and taped that show too.
In all it was really cool, I enjoyed the ninjas, I always have liked that style. It's really spriritual, which makes it more interesting.
I wasn't impresses with the Juko Kai guys either, but to each his own.

i cant believe brazilian jiu jitsu placed #10 even though grapplers continue to dominate every fucking NHB fight. go figure
but yeah, that juko kai stuff is bullshit. who wants to literally have shots taken at them and see if they can take it or what not. fuck that. if that guy were to get punched in his nose, the motherfucker would bleed alot if not break. those kicks to the ribs were to high. if they kicked the lowest rib like that, it would have broken for sure. the part where they are pulling people by their necks is bullshit as well. the corotid arteries are not being cut off fully, just a little bit, therefore they are not passing out. get someone in a rear naked choke, and they will be out like a light regardless of how much ki they have or whatever. what a fucking stupid martial art. get one of those motherfuckers in a pride fight, and watch his ass be out in a matter of seconds.

the kung fu guys were pretty fucking bad ass though.

I was very impressed with the Krav Magsomething style developed by the Israeli's. The whole system revolved around no rules all situation street fighting and protecting yourself while inflicting as much damage as possible. It's a style I'd like to learn.

The Aikedo guy was cool too, as is the style. Another I'd like to study.

The redneck taking punches was just dumb. Maybe they draw strength from the power of the mullet.

aikido teaches some cool joint manipulation, but other than that, it's too traditional to do any real good. the simulated 'attacks' consist of a guy running at you with his arm extended like he is going to ram his fist into you. who in the hell fights like that? my old roomate did aikido for 4 years and he would even admit it was bullshit for a real fight.

This sounds like the style I'd want to learn

Krav Maga

Krav Maga is the official combat art of the Israeli military forces. Krav Maga originated in the 1940's while Israel was still under British rule, and ordinary citizens were not permitted to own weapons. Unarmed combat skills were developed for self-defense. (Note the similarity to the beginnings of Okinawan karate). The words "krav maga" translate to "contact combat" in Hebrew.

Imi Lichenfield, founder of the art, became Chief Instructor of hand-to-hand combat and physical fitness for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in the late 1940s. Beginning with special forces units like the Haganah, Palmack, and Palyam, Krav Maga became the official combatives training for all military personnel and Israeli police and security forces. Lichenfield retired from the IDF in 1964 and began teaching Krav Maga to civilians.

Krav Maga, like the other military-oriented arts described in this article, is very combat-oriented. There are no kata or forms, or set combinations as reactions to attacks. Instead, the art emphasizes improvisation using a core set of techniques--since attacks don't always occur in the same manner (e.g. body position, speed, distance), reaction-based responses rather than rote practice was thought best. Many techniques originated in boxing and wrestling, not surprising given the background of the founder. Other techniques are from jujitsu and karate. However, most techniques seem adapted for modern battlefield combat, much as in the other military-oriented systems.

Because of the art's combat-orientation, there are no competitions or tournaments in Krav Maga. Like other arts, Krav Maga issues colored belts to denote higher levels of expertise.

In some show a shaloin pushed a needle through a sheet of glass without scattering it.
I found that really impressive.
After that they broke a baseball bat on his tigh and he didn´t even flinch.

martial arts are supposed to be specialized and mastered over many many years of intense STUDY combined with practice. This dumbass ex-cop looking douchebag brings the traditional forms of asian art a bad name.

On that same show, did anyone see when the blonde chick passed out on level 6 and when they took the blindfold off and she looked crazy fucked up and was like: "im ok, im ok"

sure you were honey, do you know where you are yet?

i remember they had that on Ripleys Belive it or not. They had some NFL kickers, some boxer and a kung fu guy beat the shit outta the founder. The NFL kickers kicked the guy in the nuts several times, and the kund fu guy kicked him in the chest and did hit him in the adams apple using a ridge hand punch. It looked real enough to me. But what do i know.

i think anyone who conditions genitals shouldnt expect any children any time soon ;)

Look at those photos carefully. The round house kick to the neck..the guy's hips were not even turned over...he was stopping at the throat. He was also wearing shoes if I remember correctly.

The knife hand to the throat...once again he hasn't turned his shoulders or hips either.

Punch to the chest...the guy is not even tight when he hits that woman.

Am I the only one who noticed that Herschel Walker's punching hand was open? Who in the heck punches like that in a real fight anyway? When he kicked him, Walker's hands are flying everywhere, upper chest kick, and his hips are not even locked.

It all looks like a trick to me...seen it a million times.

Thank you Elite for one of the funniest threads I've ever read. This is classic!

:D :D :D

I can't believe I read this guys, this fuck has football players hit him..lol Have a boxer start wailing on this guy, shit I would love to hit him just once to show him a true reverse hand.

Ahhh there is no end to ignorance......

Educate us about this "style". It's one of the few that interests me. How long have you practiced? Ever had to "use it"? What are the main tenants? Joint Manipulation? Grappling? Submission Holds? Weapons Defense? The only thing they showed on the documentary was them practicing against an oppenent with a gun in close quarters.

I saw a documentary on Shaolin Monks yesterday. It showed how they trained to become experts in Shaolin kung-fu. It was pretty amazing how hard they trained.

The narrator was saying stuff like:

'In order to harden the skull, each monk bashes his head against a wall for two hours daily'.

'To strengthen the fists, each monk will punch a wall for two hours every day'

'After a year of practicing to strengthen the neck, a monk will be able to hang by the neck from a noose for minutes without any discomfort.'

Then there was the balancing on spears and one finger hand stands....pretty amazing.

Krav Maga hands down.

My old boss teaches this and ive seen some classes..all i have to say is DAMN, its like wathcing a training scene in a movie in thailand..i sat there and watch as all the students kneeled down with a wooden block in front of them and proceeded to bang their foreheads against the block until blood was pouring out of their heads...i guess it was to build up tolerance/stength so that you can break somones nose if they get you in a close body grip..

i also went to Gracie Jiu-Jitsu school here in NY with my Krav Maga boys...after the Gracie crew saw them practice they would not allow them to fight or even come close to anyone..they said "that shit is NOT allowed here, please NEVER come back"

there is no "tournament" in Krav Maga, the winner is the one who is still alive.

I could sit here and tell you stories of some of the things ive seen my buddys do...its beyond comprehendable.

Is there an official licensed federation? I'd like to study it but don't want to learn from some hillbilly that saw a couple of training tapes.

You mean Krav Maga? Well look it up online, its not taught in many places, only one place I know of in NYC and other than that my old boss used to show us stuff.

One style is not better than the other. I have seen great people train in poor styles and be good...and horrible people train in good styles and really suck. Ya know what I mean?

Bump for that B Fold.

But after having looked (and reading) that Juko-Kai website, I feel infinitely dumber now.

As a side note - I can see this thread going down the lane of a couple others, mainly the superiority of one "martial" art to the next. It just depends on the student and the teacher of the system you are using and the environment for its application.

Personally - I like the takedowns of American wrestling, BJJ grapple holds, Akido Joint locks, and Muay Thai strikes (knees & elbows).

Should only take 20-30 years to learn all that. THEN WATCH OUT!

Personally, I'd love to learn the joint manipulation of Aikedo, the grappling of Jui Jitsu, and the real world scenerios of Krav Maga.

I'd rather choke someone out or break their arm than punch them in the face (even though that's a very necessary skill too).

my g/f trained in aikido for 8 years, i would call her a very competent street fighter. she also said she learned almost nothing from aikido that she would actually use or work on the street.
take that for what it is worth.

granted, i have been in a joint lock and it hurt like hell, but the chances of someone using the aikido style joint lock actually getting a competent fighter in one i would say are slim. i have wrestled with some gracie guys like once and felt VERY incompetent at wrestling afterward.

Krav Maga is a combat technique hand by hand developed by the Israelies armed forces, to fight in close quarter and against armed and unarmed individuals.

It is not an art or martial art because the ideas behind it ITS KILL or KNOCK out the guy.

I like it, you dont have one millions moves at the Jet li or Jackie Chang style but for self defense is the best technique out there. I dont recommend it to anyone,
only to peoples working in law enforcement, military or security or walking in ghettos.

but try

www.kravmaga.com might enlight you a bit.

I am lucky my teacher is Israel Defense Forces Teacher and Also teach my unit
great guy :D

Exactly why I want to take it. Simple and effective. I'm no hot head that gets into fights. As a matter of fact, I haven't been in a real fight since high school (jumped in an alley by 5 guys once though, but I don't consider that much of a fight). I've walked away from a couple that would have done nothing but gotten me or someone else hurt. Point is, if I fight at this point in my life, it's because I think I'm in real danger.

Also, I've come to believe this would be the best system for me to learn as I'm headed into the Army very soon and I like the military aspects of the training.

A caveat on Krav Maga.

Make sure of your instructors credentials. I guess this applies to any art, but I have heard of it happening a lot with Krav Maga.

I hate to say it, but any martial art that claims to be different than any other art because it is the art of "elite special forces" etc, etc is usually bullshit.

Krav Maga has a cool sales pitch, but I doubt they have discovered any new way of kicking ass. There are only so many ways to knee someone in the balls, or elbow them in the face. The clip of the Krav Maga training institute looked like a Tae-bo class.

Its all the same.

There is a HUGE difference, at least with Krav Maga...for the most part each blow these guys throw are thrown with the intent to KILL or SEVERLEY injure you...jabs to the throat, pressure points, breaking bones, choking you out is some of the things commonly seen with krav maga... i wonder if its similar to what steven segal does...im not sure what form of martial arts he has studied..

That would be Akido (Japanse circular techniques). Lots of open hand - very little striking (fist). Also alot of sword use.

But going back a few posts - someone mentioned how their girlfriend/best friend's cat groomer says Akido is really cool - but useless in a fight.

It's like B Fold said - it's more the person (and their abilities) then just the system.

Krav Maga is a combat technique, not a martial art

Martial art is a form of combat where you perform as a sport and learn something like discipline.
Unfortunaley Krav Maga in the US is associated to wannabe commando, the type of fuck that read soldier of fortune and think wearing camo on sunday is cool.

I did Karate, Tai Chi, Tai Jitsu, Judo, Savate, kick boxing and my fav is krav maga.

It is not a martial art, it is was made for particular reasons which is hand to hand combat thats all. Karate is BS, ok for sport, Judo is cool, not cool if you fight a lefty :(. Tai Jitsu was kinda fun,
Savate was boooooooooring and kickboxing as BS as Karate.

Krav Maga as techniques where in particular situation you will react, example someone
attacking you from behind, or grab your side arms from behind etc...

As for real street fighting A real fight, krav maga is my choice in line with 'boxing'
90% of all martial art are useless in a real situation fight.

and for the people that think Kung Fu will save their asses one day, if you want a real kung fu fight I hope the guy in front of you he also a KF practicioner.

and no, wannabe Seagal is Aikido I cant stand that guy!

Krav Maga has been popular in socal for a couple years now. It's the current "it" self defense technique.. alot of loser Hollywood schmoes take it nowadays just to say they know it. I've seen classes with lots of normal housewives and soccer moms enrolled too.. I guess they weren't told of the hitting-the-head-on-the-wood part just yet.

I wonder how different it is from the hand-to-hand combat skills taught in the US Military. I haven't taken Krav Maga and I'm not in the military.. so I have no idea. Does Krav Maga have the ol' fish hook to the mouth, eye gouge, and ear tear that they teach you in the US Mil?

I've always been a fan of Muay Thai. Just the fighting posture of that style makes you look like a badass.

Plus Sagat on Street Fighter was the best. Tiger, tiger, UPPERCUT! You're my bitch, Guile.

Steven Segal is an actor. The reason he looks like such badass is because he has a choreographer and the people "attacking" him are actors too.

I guess Krav Maga is different because the point of most martial arts attacks is to scare or at most startle an attacker, not actually injure or (gasp)kill.

j/k

Aikido is an amazing art, but in order to pull off any of those moves, you have to study for literally decades. I have only met one person in my life who could actually apply aikido effectively. He owns a school in Greenville, SC and has trained for over thirty years, many of which were in Japan.

Bullshit, he was(for many years) the highest ranking American in Aikido under Ueshiba. He is a badass.

I've never studied Krav Maga, so my intention here is not to disrespect it, but just as a heads up, people have been coming up with styles under the exact same premise as this for many years. These things come and go.

He was never the highest ranking american. I dont know where you are getting this from.

Regardless, he is not a badass. He is an actor. If aikido was really effective and efficeient, then name one fighter, ever, in any mixed martial arts event, than has used a wristlock or some other aikido technique to win a fight.

Pride, UFC, KOTC, Gladiators, Extreme Fighting, IVC, any event, ever.

Just one.

Immortal Juicer,

While I support your side of the argument on effectiveness in NHB events and street fighting (for 99% of the situations)... a few of the BJJ fighters have used joint locks to end fights.

Are joint locks (wrist, ARM, knee, ankle) specific to one style (Akido, Kung Fu, Krav Maga, Judo, BJJ, etc...)? No. All the martial arts share 90% of the same moves... some stress locks over kicking, kicking over punching, knees over fists....

I seem to remember a few of the early UFC fights being ended by a hanging arm bar (the grappler was upside down and breaking the elbow)...
