dead-lifts/pullups/rows

Ive never done deadlifts for fear for my lower back, but I'm dying to try them. Which is best for developing lat width and depth, dead lifts, pullups with power hook or rows?
 
1-Wide grip chins (pullups)
2-Heavy Bent over (freeweight) Rows
3-Deads Last, just because they are less of a isolation exersice. Great overall mass builder though.
 
I'd say do your deads first, when you're freshest. Start out with real light weight until you get used to them. You'll notice a difference.
 
weighted pullups Deads and Rows are all key to a big back also try lat raises
