Just playing around with my stance and grip a little bit. What would be the advantages, disadvantages of gripping the bar inside of your feet rather then outside??
I mean, I pull sumo so arms are inside, when I pull conventional, they are outside, but either way, my hands are in about the same place. It's my feet that move.
I primarily pull conventional, so my hands are outside my knees. I used to use a narrower grip than I do now, and I noticed that a slightly wider grip helped keeping my back arched a little easier.
Just feels better to me...there isn't any "strain" on my arms when they are perpendicular to the floor (inside) rather than at an upside down V (outside). Just a thought...
well in a wider stance (sumo) you are essentially using the same muscles you squat with to move the weight off the floor. Your back stays more upright and you use more hamstrings and glutes. Depending on how you are built you may be able to pull more this way
i pull more with a sumo stance, feet are a little wider than my shoulders ( 4 inches ) index finger on the edge of the grooved part. I got up to 365 5x5 before i hurt my back, now im pulling conventional 275 for an easy 3x5. ( note this is all withen a 90 day period )
