DE Lower - Owned by the tire:(

JOKER47

Elite Mentor
De Lower today, and tire flip. The tire is now stuck in the
middle of the backyard....*LOL*

Box Squats -
Warmups - 95x3x5, 135x5

155lbs + mini's - 10x2
First time with bands, so played it a little conservative to get the feel of them. Will keep the same bar weight next week, but will move to the light bands.

Oly High-pulls -
225x5x1

Full snatches -
135x2
155x2
165x1 - 10lbs PR

Pull-Throughs w/doubled light band -
3x10 - VERY different than doing these with a pulley system.

750lbs tire flip - Focused on keeping my leg drive all the way through the flip. Need more work. My drive basically stops once the tire is a waist level. Not sure if this is due to the height of the tire, or the weight.

750x1
750x0 - Tried for a second, and got owned. Got it about half-way (waist level) and fought it there for about 5 minutes. I'll move it tomorrow.:D

Loved the bands for the box squats.
I will get 2 flips out of this damn tire so help me.:D
My whole body was pumped after today. Felt great, overall.

EDIT> Fixed some of the set and rep numbers for the box squats.

Suggestions are always welcome,
Joker

Are you FULLY confident? Do you KNOW you can do it?

I sure was. Honestly. I was actually planning for 3 flips today. Just wasn't in the cards. It will be, though.....I guarantee that....:)

I don't think it's that far off, either. That second flip was ALMOST there.....I was so pissed.......

I think you have to get to know the tire a little bit more.

750 sure is a heavy mutha for your first!!!!! I flipped the 600 tire my first time and it was tough for me. You are a tough, strong guy who is challenging himself and climbing obstacles.

Congrats on your snatch PR man. You are definitely increaing the arsenal daily!

Thanks man.:)I agree with you on the tire. This was only my second time flipping it. I got the larger tire due to the fact that all contests I have seen so far, use 500-600lbs tires. Hopefully, they will seem light once I own MY tire....:D

I might have located a smaller tire. It looks, from a distance, to be closer too 500-550lbs. I plan to check it out next week. If I get it, and it IS around that weight, I plan to use that for DE days and go for reps and speed, and save the 750lbs for ME days.

Maybe try like a bicycle tire next time....you know...and work your way up.

:)

Either that, or increase my daily intake of Ensure.:D

joker...ensure is for pussy boys...you mean ensure PLUS dont you???

ensure plus has like 2x the calories

you'll get that tire ...this is the same way i started with mine. 1 flip...then just worked my way up. my tire flipping went up as my cardio shaped improved. not speed but the actual number of flips i could get

You're right. I did mean the Ensure Plus. Gymtime is the expert on old-fogey cycling, though....:D

Thanks for the encouragement, man. My short-term goal is 5 flips back-to-back with good speed. Long-term is 10.:D It'll go.......

yea man...i really think cardio has a big role in tire flip though. have you been doing any extra cardio? sprints?

what are your rest times like?

Yes, but not this week. I will start that back up next week, and re-look at my rest times between sets again.

ME days, 1-3 minutes, or however long I need.

DE days, 45 secs-1 minute depending on the lift.

Thanks for the input, man.:)

Have you worked on the knee at all?

Yes, I was working that today as well. I caught myself using it to stop the tire, so I started trying to "kick" it up with my knee. I think with some practice I can get better at that.:)

I need LOTS of practice on this damn tire....:D

Same thing happened to me. The first couple of times I worked with our 675 tire I managed about 3-4 flips. When the knee started working for me... I took it about 60 feet. Keep at it :)

165lb Power Snatch?

Excellent, I don't think I could do much more than that!

Thanks man. I think it's kind of a combination of a power snatch and a full snatch. A little bit of a squat when I catch it. I had to press the weight a little for the lockout again.

I will take a video of it next week so you all can critique it for me.:)

Have you tried dumbell powersnatches? double or single armed?

I'm gonna try them, they were recommeded to me to help me extend the pull and keep my feet on the ground. Hard to jump with dumbells :)

Will do.
I know I just need some more practice. :) I'll own that bastard....:redhot:

No, I haven't tried those yet. Do you have vid that I can check for form? They sound like fun....:D

do worry about the tire, when I first tryed all I did was muscle it up and tired myself up, once I learned to use my leg it became a lot easier. I still have to remind myself to use knees though

Just keep working with the tire. I can't knee my 1k tire up either. I can anything that is about 700 and under though...

You have to work to where you can bring that tire up so hard/fast from the ground that you get it to between your belly button and your chest before your knee comes into effect...

I ahven't done any of them, but when I get some practise I'll make a clip.
There used to be a site with clips of that, but it's gone now.
