DC and DOMS

I've been doing a DC routine for about 4 months now and it's working out great. But on Tuesday I had a killer hack squat session and i still have a little soreness in my quads. I was planning on going to the gym for another lower body workout, but.... since i will be doing squats, and im still a little sore, i was debating whether i should just hold off till tommorrow as i know my performance would be hindered a bit.

I've never had DOMS this bad on DC before either, normally i can recover within 3 days time.

Should i go to the gym or wait till tommorrow? What do u think?

warm up good, stretch a bit and see how you feel. alot of times some light leg presses and a bit of stretching will knock that soreness out.

Never let soreness delay a session. All you do is delay growth, and based on what? Soreness isn't really a clear indicator of anything.

I thought you weren't supposed to work a sore muscle? But they do it all the time in bootcamp, so it can't be that detrimental, I guess.

It's some of the only feedback the body gives us on our efforts, so people want to pay it some heed. But it is really reliable? I get more sore doing pushups to failure than from a 5RM incline press. Obviously the incline's much better at building muscle, so there's more to the story... my personal theory is that it's related to failure training moreso than an effective muscle-building workout.

Yes, I can definately relate to that, I didn't get super sore until I absolutely pushed myself to complete muscle failure and kept it there for some time.

boot camp isnt the example of sound training practices. the goal of boot camp is to prepare you for war. in war, you arent taking 2 minute breaks, stretching between running from building to building and getting post workout nutrition. its all about pushing through physical limits at all costs.

I'm with bignate... I would get in there and see what happens... But if it clears up hit it full strenght... Some of my all-time best workouts came when I was sore or otherwise did not feel up to snuff....
