Dan Duchanes Death

I was arguing this with a friend of mine - Dan Duchane died of polycystic kidney disease / kidney failure.

Was this confirmed due to anabolic use?
Anyone know for sure?

It was a genetic condition. Dan was adopted. The downside of meeting his birth mom and sister was getting the news he had a genetic death sentence.

Yep, I was also told it was genetics but of course some believe his crazy experimentation didn't help. Supposedly he was a very smart guy all the way around.

dan was a staple in bodybuilding as we know it today,we owe alot to him.but if you have read anything about him,he really didnt like to practice bodybuilding all that much,he felt he didnt have the genetics for it.he was a problem solver and deticated himself to helping the bb industry.i think he was one of the first people to invent a finaplix conversion, from pellets to inj.and his book bodyopus is one of the best keto diets for bodybuilders.(imo).we need more people like him today.

I totally agree with you, he was one of the main people in the evolution of practices used today.

Dan was brilliant -- a genius really. As is the case with anyone who goes out on a limb, he was wrong as often as he was right -- which is fine for an inventor, but not for someone who chose to be his own guinea pig for science experiments. True, he had a congental condition but I think even Dan would admit he put his kidneys through a lot of abuse.
