When you delete a file, all you actually do is remove the pointer to it. The information still resides on your computer. The only way it's permenantly removed is if it's written over by new information. This product is supposed to clear out and scrub all "free space" that could still actually contain many files.

This is a great product for those of us that use a work pc.
