crystal lite while dieting

lund

New member
I am 8 weeks out for a show and the person doing my diet said I can have crystal lite or diet coke untill I am 6 weeks out. I have been dieting for the last 5 weeks and have been only drinking water. My question is should I just stick to water or can I have the crystal lite. :coffee:

i know some pppl on here use it.. i was going to use it for my comp diet, but its kinda expensive... I just drank my water.. but you can use it, no calories! im sure its ok

why not just buy a couple lemons, some nutrasweet, and mix it in some ice water? there is something disturbing about crystal lite. maybe because it sounds like crystal meth. pure crap.

I take a single pack and mix it with 3/4 gallon of water.
I drink crystal light year round I got turned on to it when I did my very first show back in 97. I usaually drink it up till two weeks out then I switch to just distilled water the last two weeks. Crystal lite has no carbs Bro.

Isn't that essentially what it is?? Nutrasweet is a little suspicious to me. Though I still consume some seriousl amounts of diet coke. Crystal Lite is now w/ splenda.

Generally any of that stuff, up until 6-8 weeks out, is ok as long as you are flushing out your system w/ lots of water. Actually the sodas are worse than crystal lite because of the carbonation.

I killed that shit the whole time I dieted. I would sit down and drink a 2 liter bottle of diet rite at one time. I would help me feel full because of the carbonation. Not only that, it was sweet, and that was beautiful.

There's argument about the phosphates interfering w/ your body's ability to process protein too.

Its crazy.

Here's another way to think of stuff in water when you are dieting, esp for competition. Your body can use water as is, correct? Coffee, soda, crystal lite, all are water-based but your body has to do some processing on them to handle the stuff you mixed in, so not optimal. My trainer actually calls anything a "meal" that requires processing to assimilate it. This is not optimal when you are trying to get yourself down to famine-dry for a competitoin.

if it wasn't for crystal lite i would be dehydrated. i can't put down two gallons of water but i can of rasperry iced tea. its got 15 cals per quart no sugar, its like drinking water essentially

although a newbie on here, i too have found over the long haul that you need to avoid sodas, and drinks from concentrate in order to cut up....and that being said i found that the crystal light lemonade made it much easier to avoid the other drinks as it gave me another option as opposed to flavourless water everytime you need a drink.
