Crushed Vials

I hate using these little ass sust vials. Ive already crushed 2 of them trying to snap off the tops! Im glad i ordered xtra. To bad they dont come in 10ml vials.

Scratching the neck of any amp with a little folded piece of sand paper will guarantee a clean break at every time.

Tried scoring the neck with a knife snapped off pretty clean but the last few were a bitch! Usually just snap off in between fingers.

A hard item like a knife is a lot of work and one must pressure down on it to get it to scratch. A folded piece of sandpaper makes a nice scratch and won't put enough pressure on it to break the amp. The scratch doesn't look like much when you are done, but it makes the vial snap clean...

A simple glass cutter is cheap and should be effective. I've always liked prescored amps, but the ones that aren't prescored are a pain.

you know that little file that comes in side finger nail clippers? i have used the sharp tip of that perfectly every go and even the side of it on a angle to get the sandpaper affect

i was bored one day and decided to pop 10 sust. tops off and preload them for the week and damn, what a fucking mistake...i use a knife to score the white edge on the ampuole which does take a lot of grinding to get it popable...well, i was so frustrated after popping a few that i didn't get a clean cut all the way around and snapped the top off...only problem was that a piece of the glass that wasn't cleanly cut made a cute sharp point which when ran across the top of my finger/knuckle (with a 235lb guy pushing really hard) sliced the ever loving shit out of the top of my finger and left me bleeding for quite some time...needless to say, i wasn't very happy and i'm definitely gonna keep my eyes open for a amp cutter...

A person should be able to find a cheap amp opener at Hach.com. They mainly cater to water and wastewater, but they have amp openers. Cole-Palmer probably has them too.

I found one on E-bay for about $12 inc. S/H. I went ahead and bought it. I'm getting ready to start a cycle in about a month and I have quite a few sus amps.

jesus christ!get a pair of scissors run them around the neck grab the top with a towel and snap it.never had one to break.now i crush the lid in the towel sometimes.

BRR is spot on... you want to score the neck, not try and cut through it. Buy an amp opener...

In my limited experience I found a towel/wash cloth on the top makes for a cleaner break, I dunno why.

i have never had a problem from day 1 with amps. i use my thumb and index finger. i press the top with my thumb with my index finger behind it while holding the amp in the other 3 fingers.

Score it with a knife, put a pen cap on the top for containment, wrap in washcloth and snap.

I've broken, busted, cut and lost before. Im extra careful now.
