Creatine Question

Is creatine good or bad? Does it really increase power? I've also heard it is not good for your body.

Here is what I've heard: Your body automatically creates creatine so when it is taken externally you are actually overloading the body's supply. When this happens, the body quits creating it because it's getting it from another source.

What happens when you stop taking it? Will your body be able to create it again? Any long-term effects? Does it increase power?

Thanks

Creatine can be found in meats. If you eat enough meat you could possibly forego taking the supplement. I don't see that it would hurt you in any way. Should leave your system fairly quick once you stop taking it. The only drawbacks on creatine is that some tend to have stomach bloat or worse yet the "runs" due to creatine pulling water into your intestines and/or some stomach discomfort (sickness) - doesn't agree with some. I have found that the discomfort can be eliminated if you take creatine with food or a shake. I have heard though that creatine should be taken with no food. It will add some strength and some bloat. Best bet would be to try some. It will not hurt you in any way, except for some possible symptoms that I have mentioned above. Hope that helps.

I have used creatine over an extended period of time and for me the only thing I noticed was increased muscular endurance. I could do set after set and come back for more. On chest days, i could do 15-20 set to exhaustion and still have energy to do 3 sets of dips for 20-30 reps. I didn't gain much weight of significantly increase my strength but like I said I could lift for hours if I wanted to.

Creatine definately helps me when it comes to weight training. I'll drink about 6 grams of creatine, wait an hour, then start off with a bench press. Immediately I can tell that it does give me a small boost of energy when I'm doing 8-12 reps, 4 sets of bench pressing. I think it also helps me curl.
I dunno, I just feel more energized, like I can go for longer, when I've taken creatine.

The Anaerobic Power change is huge! Short term it's still all good unless you are dehydrated to the extreme or have underlying health problems! Long term nobody knows and wont untill 20-30 years have passed!
