Creatine for Dieting

I have a question.

I see that many people that have done a before and after contest have listed creatine as a supplement that they have used to get where they are.
I was under the impression that Creatine was more for adding mass and not to be used during a fatloss phase.

Am I correct in assuming this, or can you really use it during diet.
I was under the impressison that it would make you hold lots of water, not only in the muscle.

Creatine can be a great diet aid. As you lower calories, strength naturally falls off. Creatine can be a huge aid here both mentally and physically.

Old Creatine Monohydrate showed more water retention. Creatines these days show little to none of bloating. It is in fact a cell volumizer, meaning they expand the cell and allow more water to be drawn into the muscle cell, not bad for hydration either.
