Cottage Cheese-How to make it edible?

LongBall

New member
I have reserved myself to the fact that I need to be eating cottage cheese for some easy protein. The problem is, I don't particularly enjoy the taste(not repulsive, just annoying). My question to you is "What do you do to your cottage cheese to make it a little more enjoyable"? I did a search and didn't really turn anything up on it so your replys would be appreciated, thanks Bro's.

bake at 350 for 20 minutes. tastes great!!

seriously though, if you can swing it in your diet, throw some orange slices in with it.

Yea I have the same problem... I love it in lasagna, but cant stand to eat it plain... Ill try baking it.

Same problem here, I understand it needs to be eaten, especially at night for some great protein, but I come close to gagging when I even think about it. It's disgusting! I just bought a small tub of it and struggled through 5 spoonfuls or so, omg, it's just...wait a minute...

Here's what I do, and I love it:

Add some Splenda, Equal, or some artificial sweetner and a little bit of sugar-free chocolate syrup....tastes awesome!!!

Cottage cheese is a great food - high protein, no preparation and cheap.
But, yes, many can't stand the taste.

It's actually very versatile (it's cheese - goes with a lotta stuff).

A few suggestions:
- citrus fuits, like oranges, pinapples and kiwis
- sliced apples, through on a few sliced almonds for a good source of unsaturated fat
- apple sauce (plain, no sugar)
- yogurt - most flavours work (use low fat, no sugar, unless your bulking)

I also saw a thread with a recipe for pancakes - had oatmeal, egg whites,
cottage cheese and cinnamon; blended then cooked. Haven't tried it, but I will soon.

Don't forget my prior recipe posted for "Cheesecake".
Mix cottage cheese with 1 or teaspoons of sugar free fruit preserves, 1/2 packet of Splenda and cinnamon.
Its almost like a real dessert if you just use a little imagination...

All bran (for fiber) + artificial sweetener

with nuts, walnuts, almonds,......

Well, had about two servings last night before bed. I mixed two equals in it and it was tolerable! Thanks for the helps guys, there is hope for me after all!

Adding to oatmeal pancakes is awesome on top of adding in your own fruit (or just getting the pineapple version in the store) or sugar free preserves.

I would also throw in some vanilla pro powder (equal , if i wanted it real sweet) and sugar free maple syrup. It was awesome.

Yogurt works great too.

Just keep eating it, and you will get used to it. At first I couldn't stand it, now I can eat a medium sized tub in a couple of minutes without any problems. Also, try different brands. Some taste much better then others.

Mixing it with fruit is always good, but since I'm cutting I'm taking it straight.

Splenda, Fiber 1, peanuts is good. I just tried this last night and it was good... I have Low Carb Lean Body MRP's, I added some of that in Knudsen's 2%- mixed it in and it was like a creamy chocolate desert, kinda like chocolate mouse.

tuna fish and cottage cheese

Hey, I mix cottage cheese and tuna fish an think it is pretty tasty. Try it and tell me what you think.

yes, it is good :p

and if you can add carbs, put the tuna+cottage cheese in a slice of pyta bread

tuna and cottage cheese is good mixed, late nite cottage cheese with a scoop of flavored protein powder mixed in, and a splash of milk to help it mix, is also a favorite of mine

Oatmeal+Naty PB+FF Cottage Cheese

Oats+FF CC+Sugar-free/FF instant pudding (Flavor of your choice)

Mac and Cheese made with 1-2 cups FF CC instead of milk and butter. (Boil the noodles, stir in FF CC and packet of cheese powder mix, lower heat and let CC melt) It comes out creamy and gooey.

Also mix it in your shakes for slow releasing protein as well as to add a little thickness.

Man I love Cottage Cheese!!

aren't the cheese packets a diet killer ?

I dont mean the ones where it comes as a liquid (i mean in powder form). And although mac and cheese is not the cleanest source of carbs, IMO is not that bad on occasion while bulking as your first whole food meal after a post workout shake (It is high carb low fat - when prepared w/out butter or milk - add the FF CC and it then becomes high protein as well). If the origional poster was asking for dieting foods then *woops* my fault I guess I have to read things more closely from now on. Either way this tastes pretty good so give it a whirl on your next bulking diet for some variety.

=W= - Very good idea on making it in the form of mac and cheese. i have never thought of doing that, but will give it a try.

From what i have been told, the security cookie is set too high and as a result some have limited access or none at all. It should be fixed soon, luckily its not affecting my computer but many others are expierancing the problem. I believe Jay is in the process of re-vamping it so this wont happen in the future...

see ya bro

I personally like to mix it w/ some blueberries. tastes great and very nutritional. U can also sub it w/ Raspberries.

Add Splenda & Cinnamin to the CC and you'll think you're eating desert

I thought only I did this! Its a great change from cocoa and splenda.

It leaves me feeling like I just had a Cinnabon cinnamon roll.

i mix some herb and garlic cream cheese and chop up some tomatos and onions..... and then eat it on a bagel or somethiung.....

try it, its good

I find the best way to eat cottage cheese is with fruit. I use bananas, blueberries, apples, pears, etc. Basically any fruit will do. Oh raisins are good to! Then sprinkle with cinnamon and mix it up really well.

Lately I have been short on time, so I just sprinkle a lot of Mrs. Dash into 2 cups worth, and eat it like this. Mrs. Dash should be a staple of everbody's shopping list in my mind. The stuff is awesome!

I recently moved to the east coast and cottage cheese here is sick as shit. I've tried three brands so far and they all taste like my ass. This is coming from someone who ate it every day on the west coast. I can't explain why this is, but they realy aren't the same everywhere.........
