Corvette C6..............eh

Why is it everytime a major manufacturer has a badass sportscar, they try to "improve" it, by making it ride like a sedan???

Oh well......at least I already have it sold to some assclown from Podunk Missouri. :)

Lol

O well- I know Dodge botched the Viper, at least to me. It doesnt have that bully image....I do however like the looks of the C6....

Couldn't agree more about the Viper, although it was due for a little makeover, they went way overboard. Not just the handling and overall ride, but the broad shoulders of the car are all but gone. :(

I've been looking into the C6 lately. What exactly is wrong with making it ride with more refinement and smoothness? Is it supposed to ride like a tank? Why is riding comfortably such a bad thing?

The upcoming Z06 is rumoured to have 500hp/500lb tq and some radical differentiation in looks. What are your thoughts on this? Putting any bias aside, honestly what other sports car (for the price) can compete with the C6 (and later the Z06)?

A huge factor turning me off from the C6 is that everyone has one now. It is now a mass producation vehicle and that seriously makes it lose its appeal to me. I think it looks great and has top-notch performance, but damn, everyone including the high school junkie has one.

I'm also looking into the new Mercedes Benz SLK55 AMG. What is your opinion of this? What other not so common car around this price range would you recommend? Thanks bro! :)

I also agree about the Viper. I used to think it was one of the best looking muscular sports cars ever designed, but now it is hideous. The styling of a Honda Accord appeals to me more then the current Vipers.

hey bro....

how them mustangs doing? lol

I wanted one sooooo bad in highschool......

rofl though I come to college and here in the parking lot, every other fuckin car is a mustang. don't get me wrong, I still like them.

but what is up with the MIDWEST and the MUSTANGS????

You want forever badass? Here ya go...

Pure 427 badass.

Corvettes are like Mustangs in that way......a lot of them on the road. From a performance standpoint, it's fast, but not fast enough for $56K. The Z06 will come in around $60K or more, not worth it IMO.

It's a cultural (or lack thereof) phenomenon. :)

Kit car, still cool though. I've got a black one built by Lone Star Classics, with a built 351. Not the fastest car by any means, but nothing stops traffic like the Cobra (Stopping for gas on a Sunday turns into a two hour ordeal).

My Dad has a Factory5 with a small 351 bored to a 427. His buddy has an original 427, silver with white stripes. When they go out cruisinng together, it's like the parting of the Red Sea.

And you're correct, a traffic stopper and also a chiropractors wet dream when you hit the gas.

PM me pics of yours when you get chance. I may have some of my dad's on this PC somewhere I can send you.

They're already shipping C6s?

I just bought the C5 pictured in my gallery. I can't believe how expensive the c6's are....

I'll wait till next year

They've fucked up all the lines. All the cars i wanted as a broke kid I no longer like. That goes for the Porsche 911's, the jags, theVettes, etc etc

Screw that man. I'd take a 911 turbo in a heartbeat! I, however, do not have the $120k available to purchase one. :(

i still cried the day they totally fucked up the Honda Prelude.

as mr. db said, which one?

my 2nd car was an 82 prelude. maroon, factory air and sun roof. nice little car. was my first 5spd. i had mega problems learning to drive stick on it though. clutch went out 2 months after i got the car. when i got it replaced, they showed me that the assembly was missing the return spring (manual clutch, not hydraulic). i put a chevy or buick return spring in there (HUGE spring) and never had clutch problems again. got a good leg workout every time i drove.

totalled it 4 months after i got the car. damn volvo changing lanes in front of me in the middle of an intersection

Brad

LOL

Im at that awkward in between where I could afford it, but every time I looked at it I would be thinking "damn, did I really spend that much money on a car."

I understand completly. I am in the same situation with a lesser car. (BMW M3 or an Audi S4). I don't think I will get either though. I think I will settle for an Infinity G-35.

Infinity's are nice.

Anyway, I just drive a Durango, and my bike. I feel better about putting an extra 250k in a house than 100k in a car. If I buy any toy soon it will likely be a boat

I'm just a car nut. I have never been in a position before to get myself something like this. I would go for the M3 but it would cramp my lifestyle too much. So, I will wait untill the 2005's come out and settle for the G-35. I will have fun upgrading it though and I am sure I will be pleased with it.

Do you know what Ford is doing with the 2007 Cobra? They are putting in a Whipple supercharger. The Cobra is a lot cheaper than a Vette and with mods, can smoke a vet. Also, modding a Cobra is sooooooo much cheaper than a Vette.

I love the profile of the C6. Considering it's performance and build quality I think a tag in the 50's is totally justified. My aunt will take delivery on hers by the end of Sept I think and I'm trying to persuade her to buy some track time this fall so we (me I mean) can explore it's limits a little.

Wutangnomo... Go with the E55 over the slk55... driven both.. NOTHING I have driven compares to the E55... even an SL55 Brabus I drove didn't stand up the the basic AMG'd out E55. Once I turn enough tricks, I'ma go e55 for sure.

More about the "sedan like ride": The new Corvette is shorter, more powerful, with less wind resistance and a sensational new automatic damping.
The new Corvette has the most innovative and advanced dampers in the business - the Magnetic Selective Ride option.
These are a new type of damper that are automatically adjusted according to the road conditions.
This is done with a new fluid which is called a magneto-rheological substance. Excellent!"

You would rather have a rough riding sportscar then a smooth riding one?

Also, is there a faster car you can get for 56k?(stock)

HS Lifter said:

Nope. And I think you could actually almost buy two C6's for the money you'd need to spend to find a faster car.

A stock Cobra is close for 24K less. But the point I was trying to make, after putting 170 miles on one, is that it no longer feels like the driver makes the car. Rough or not, I like to feel the road in a sports car. :)

Simple it's not the fastest car for 56K. There are Saleen Mustangs for under 50 that will smoke a C6.

You seem to know a little about everything, huh?

why dont you just downgrade the suspension and still have the best sports car for the money.

The car is way too advanced to be tinkered with, another reason why progress sucks. GM now has certified Corvette techs, akin to what Chrysler did with the Viper. But at least the Viper is nuts and bolts, or at least it used to be. Man I feel like my dad. :worried:

The c6 still stands as the fastest mass produced for around 56k.

Saleen's are "specialty" vehicles.

http://www.fast-autos.com/saleencenter.html#mustang_s351

The s351 and 281 can beat a c6, but they are still mustangs. :) And they are also about the same price.

Which saleen is under 50 and that can smoke a c6?

Saw one today, not long before they are all over the place...too bad, because they actually stand out and look pretty good, but not for me still.

The 351 and 281 can are under 50K (45-48). But I'd be more than happy to sell you one for 56K, I've got a black one and a silver one, let me know.

As far as it still being a Mustang, the C6 is still a Vette.......same connotation.

Mr. dB said:
Base price is $44.2K

Pitbull said 56K, so thats the figure I went with.

Havent really done any research since I wont be buying one anytime soon.

EDIT:Im sure pitbull meant a nicely equiped vette which comes out to around 56K. So he was right.

Vette targa starts at around 45K, convertible around 52K. For those prices and for the performance (0-60 in 4.3 seconds) the Vette is one of the best vehicles in its classs. The only thing that bugs me is that they produce too many of them. Had the production been cut waaaayyyy down the Vette would be my top choice. I'll wait until the Z06 comes out.

ZKaudio, the E55 AMG is pretty nice but I do not like the styling. The SLK has much nicer lines in my opinion. I am also considering an M3 (or M5 when it comes out).

Mr. dB said:

You won't be able to buy one for $44,200, until it's got 10K miles on it.

Dealers aren't ordering any base models. They're averaging $52k for the targa.....and fully optioned are closer to $55,000. The one I have (until it's delivered tom.) is loaded including navigation. I paid $56,150 (at auction) I have it sold for $58,500. Didn't buy it to make money, but to play with it for a few days.

After a few months, they won't still be going for over sticker...

black hard top C6 with dark tinted windows. 5 spoke aluminum forged rims powder coated black...

aluminum 427ci Gm block with procharger F1 supercharger...

would be way overkill but might as well aim for the fastest thing in the state and surrounding states.

I drove a c-6 400 miles this weekend and it is one bad ass car. For the money it has the best performance and the looks are awesome. I have a c-5 and the c-6 outclsses the c-5 in every way. The car handles like a drive is tight as hell and has gobs of power. Moded cars like Saleen and Lingenfelter don’t count.

Mr. dB said:

i dunno mang...

M3 is are still way over sticker even in high end places where they are selling a quite a few of these... (i know its euro but still

Some dealers are charging an outrageous amount over sticker (we're talking 10-20K over), however, right now you can get the C6 for MSRP. It's not a bad deal at all for probably the best bang for your buck vehicle. The new Vette can smoke cars that cost two or three times as much. If the Z06 does have 500/500 (or even more according to some rumours) that'll be the car to beat.

wouldnt cutting production cut profits and therefore they would have to raise the price thereby no longer making it the best car for the money, kind of kills the whole concept.
