Cortisone shot for tendinitis?

Shinobi

New member
A friend from another message board had a cortisone shot for tendinitis and said that all the pain went away like magic. Im wondering for how long the effects of the cortisone shot will last. What do u guys think is the best thing to treat tendinitis? I know one of the best things is not to train the specific area but we all know that its almost impossible to do that... I mean, I dont want to stop training... I can avoid few exercises but the pain its still there and I cant give my 100%. Some people put ice for 15 minutes 6x a day... what else will help my tendinitis? I have tennis elbow and in the forearm. Thanks

P.S: any of u guys ever had surgery on the tendon to treat tendinitis?

After several shots I elected to get the surgery on my left elbow. It took awhile to get better and I also had to discontinue doing nose breakers, over heads etc. But overall the surgery was a success.

do a search here and on the web for prolotherapy. Cortisone will only allow you to cause more joint damage, it doesnt actually cure anything, its a bandaid at best.

So its worth it? So u cant do nose breakers for good after surgery?
How long for recovery after surgery?

In my case IMO doing heavy nose breakers and heavy over heads contributed to my tendonitis. Every once in awhile I will incorporate them into my tri workout, but I try to stay away from those exercises because my elbow feels pretty good right now and want to keep it that way.

I've had a couple cortisone shots and they helped. But what you need to watch out for is just because it feels better doesn't mean it is better. I was careful and dropped the weight down to beginner levels for a while. IF you dont give it time to heal you'll f**k it up for sure.

Exactly, the inflammation goes down, but I definitely dropped the weight on some exercises, and have entirely stayed away from others until I feel confident it won't agitate the area. Also, at the first sign of soreness, I ice immediately upon returning home.

i had tendonis and nutin helped. then i got a cortisone injections, didnt do anything for a week and like magic all the pain was gone, this was 1yr ago and i can do heavy skullcrushers or anything really and no pain at all, i love those injections

Hey brother Ive been battling severe tendonitis now for about 1 year..it recently got so bad I went and had an MRI done on my elbow because I thought I had torn something or ripped a tedon...it came back negative on that but it showed SEVERE inflammation....it was so bad it would wake me up at night and when I woke up in the morning I could hardly move my arm, wash my hair...ect.......Like some have said, and it sucks trust me, your going to have to take the weights down big time and let it heal..ive had 2 cortizone shots in each elbow and it didnt do shit for me, but some people do have sucess...now for the answer......my friend does ultimate fighting in Orlando...and he had this in BOTH elbows...ive tried about 5 anti inflammatories with no success until he told me to try one called Cataplan...or the generic called Diclofenac Potassium at 50 mg's....3x a day...they WILL definitely help your problem...ive been on them for about 2 weeks and while the pain hasnt completely gone away...im back working out and I havent done that for a real long time...I hope this helps man because this has been the worse and most costly injury ive ever had............oh and these can be very harsh on your stomach...definitely take them with food and watch the booze...they can tear up your stomach something wicked
