Cortisol blockers?

I was going through some old magazines the other day, and found several articles and ads for cortisol blockers. Supposedly they're great for hardgainers.

Anyone ever try one of these things? Do they work at all?

Okay, just did a google search, and found this one:

http://store.yahoo.com/joemuscle/cort-bloc.html

which is comprised of:

Phosphatidylserine: 200mg
Glutamine peptide: 800mg

Makes me wonder if I should just add in some glutamine, or if the addition of phosphatidylserine is worthwhile.

800 mg of glutamine is next to nothing. I take about 10-15 grams of it before going to bed (i.e. 10-15,000 mg)

PS (Phosphatidylserine) seems to be an interesting sup (though a bit pricey)

Much more useful than Glutamine

The only real cortisol blocker I've tried was RU-486 (i used it as a pro-gyno blocker). Not something I would again.....

RU-486 ???
The Abortion Pill ???

I have tried PS, 1000 mg a day (500mg pre and 500mg post work out). Didn't notice a thing. No difference when I was taking it vs when I wasn't.

PS at 800mg (active PS only - NO PS COMPLEX) can reduce cortisol levels by appx 30% when they are abnormally high. If they aren't abnormally high it does nothing. In most cases cortisol blocking is overrated unless you are under a lot of stress and/or get too little sleep.

IF you match the above criteria than 800mg of active PS will do the trick - pricey though. Supposedly Keto-7 DHEA does this as well at a lower cost but I've seen no studies to back claims. And of course blocking the effects of cortisol vs reducing cortisol itself works - Supposedly Methoxy/4AD does this and with little doubt a good cycle of AAS shuts down the effects of cortisol (if there are any to worry about).

I took prosource's brand of Phosphatidylserine a year ago, and i think it worked pretty well...coulda been all mental. i'd buy more to try now i'm a poor college student:(
