When you answere your interview questions , just answer them
TRUETHFULLY , don't lie alot of departments can and will polly you if they think your lieing.

Most cops were teens at one time and tried drugs or even did some drugs through out their life , as long as you don't test positive for the interveiw or have taken drugs like LSD , or other mind altering drugs that can re-accure.

and a police department can and will test you for steriods !!!! I know people that have been tested , the test is expensive and most departments hire several people at a time and if this is the case then everybody has to be tested for the juice !!

I personaly feel that cops should get a discount on juice and free gym memberships , then maybe we woulden't have so many fat ass jelly doghnut eating fat asses that other guys have to carry their weight !!!!!

Wasn't Lee Haney also a cop? I know I would feel safer if I knew my local cops were juicin. I do know of two cops that juiced when I lived in Tx-and they said a lot of guys in the dept juice but they all are smart enough to have Dr.s prescriptions. They have their own channels and understanding physicians. Plus the Dr.s make sure they have all the best anti-e's and such...

Let me tell you what I did DENY DENY DENY no illegal drug use whatsoever. They never asked about AS specifically. And as for them testing for it they didnt where I am from. I was fresh of a cycle (Deca,Test) gave both blood and urine samples. You don't want to appear absolutely perfect esp with the psych exam. Went through all that shit and passed like a champ.

how specific are the questions during the polygraph test? If you did admit to smoking a little pot, would it turn into an interrigation? How much? Where? With whom? How long etc?

I have friend who just recently tested for a city cop postion and said that he had to take two lie detcotr test one at each inter view. they asked him qestions about drug use . they asked have youdone any illegals in the last year. also asked if he ever did nay . he was truthfull and said yes that in highscholl and college he smoke pot a few times.... when he really smoked pot for years. but he didn't smoke for over a year befor the testing and he got the job. just be truth ful to a point..

Yes. Each agency (local, state, federal) has a different "acceptable use policy." These policies deal with what you are allowed to have used, how many times, etc. Find out an agency's policy before applying.

Well intentioned, but wrong. Any type of countermeasures that affects the entire "test" will not help you "pass." Effective polygraph countermeasures are those that can be used only during the control questions.

In many areas, corrections does use the polygraph.

Believe it or not, quite a number of fire departments polygraph as well.

Some fed jobs require a VSA test which you cannot cheat.

Thaibox, please cite a source for this one. I am not aware of any federal agency that uses CVSA. You are, however, correct that there is no way to manipulate the CVSA "test" into a passing result (this is rather easy with the polygraph). Fortunately, CVSA is used as a mere interrogation prop in most places. It is very rare for an agency to deny an applicant based on VSA results alone. The machine has not been shown more accurate than a coin flip in any study not done and paid for by the manufacturer.

The site is run by those who have been wrongly rejected for jobs because of these lie detector tests, and explains how you can avoid being the next person to fail. Kind of messed up... my brother was applying for cop jobs, and he has never (and I mean never, no bullshit) done any kind of drugs, only alcohol. He failed the lie detector test, though... that was a while ago, and he is now the chief of police in a small town.
