Converting PAL - NTSC

Anyone know how to convert PAL format movies to NTSC? What program I can buy/download? I usually have no problems burning any files on to DVD, however, there is a couple I can watch on my comp, but once I try to burn them to DVD, I get a mssg stating the fileshave more PAL content than NTSC. Says the program will convert to NTSC, but once I go to play the DVD, it plays all scrambled, does not work. I use Nero to burn all my files. Can I convert first with another program?

Go to target and buy one of those 40$ dvd player, look for phillips.

Price is low, play good and usually are region free...(plays any format) though they will not advertise this.

I bought this model 2 years ago:: Philips DVP-642
menu sucks, playback kicks ass!

Focus on the frame rates. Also PAL has more scan lines. So you're gonna lose some real estate. This is also called 'transcoding'.

Do that, then burn.

there's a freeware program written in python called devede that will do it with very little user input. if running a unix variant (or even windows) just install python and compile the devede

I still prefer buying the 40$ dvd player that plays pal, ntsc and every other region.. also plays xvid, divx, mp3, etc..

Converting 100's of movies can get time consuming.
