converse all star squat shoe?

right.. a lil while ago, someone posted about this brand of shoe suitable for heavy pulling and squatting.. i was wondering if anyone has any links to this particular design as i want to get a pair.. but don't know which type to go for.. as some are quite fancy street wear stuff, and some looks unsuitable to me.. as i will be buying them locally in malaysia instead of online, photo's would work too..

They're Chuck Taylors. They're available in a bunch of different colors and in low-top, but it's the same basic shoe regardless. Not much else looks like them; you shouldn't have much trouble finding them at a local store if they're in stock.

best shoe evar imo. Deads and squats are so much more stable in them, you'll love them after a couple of sessions

Am I right in saying that for PL squats and deads you want a flat foot, but for oly ATF squats, you want a bit of a heel? I couldn't decide between the chucks and something with a heel, so I finished up with a pair of Adidas Ironworks. Just got them last night, so I can't wait to squat today!

They probably have a tendency of lifting their heels when they reach the bottom of the lift so the plate helps stablilize them. A better option would be to work on his flexibility with a lighter weight until keeping his heels planted becomes completely natural.
