That other thread started a convo with a buddy of mine, and he was telling me that one of his friends brothers went to jail for 4 years. He was saying how different in prison it is, he said everyone has there own “space” and did not want anyone violating that space. this “space” is all anyone has in prison, he way saying that this is one of the first lessons you learn in there. Don’t get to close and violate someone’s personal space.
He said when he got out, going to the mall was a trip, walking that close to people freaked him out, people walking feet away from him would cause a reaction were it made him close his fist up and get ready to protect his space
another big thing is respect. He said people in malls etc will stare at you right in the eyes as they walk by; he told me that this is a major way to get your ass beat or even killed, looking someone in the eyes is very disrespectful in prison. He said for the first few days this was hard to get used to, he used to go into rages when people would look at him in the eyes just going to the store or mall etc. he said he would just be walking along and look up and someone would look at him or be too close and he would kind of flinch and get ready to swing out of reaction.
He said the first 5 minutes he was in prison; some huge black dude walked up to him and said “give me your fucking shoes” This caused a fight because of course you don’t hand over your shoes, this would turn you into a bitch, he said this would always happened, people wanting his food etc. you have to stand your ground. He said he saw someone get stabbed over a pea hopping of someone spoon onto another mans plate. He said when he got out he would just sit out in the rain because it was the first time he felt it in 4 years. Crazy shit.
