Controlled Delivery??? WTF?!?!

Shipment came to 2 addys. One came through and the other went to the local PO Box. I got stuck out of state all week so the wife goes to pick up. She is under instruction not to sign for anything and knows what a controlled delivery is.

She goes to our PO and sees the normal postal guy in the background. Some older guy is working the desk. He looked like he had a clue so she ruled out that he was new. She had never seen him before. She hands the yellow slip over to the guy b/c the box was too big for the PO slot.

He gets the box (it could have been other things too that she orders) then taps it on the desk and says, “So this must be the good stuff”. She looked at the return and then realized it was not her package, it was gear. He asked if there were cigarettes in the box. She told him that she has no idea because it is not addressed to her. Then he goes into how she can get ciggs for 17 a carton via mail. But seemed to insist that they were cigarettes. She just talked about nothing and got the package and left.

She cleaned house big time and got all gear out of the house.

Now my question. If this were a controlled delivery would she have been popped on site and then my house later that day? Am I just too damn paranoid? This happened about a day ago.

Sounds like a nosey postman thats all

I don't think you have a problem. He was probably just making stupid conversation.

Good idea to clean the house. If they come to your house it will have nothing in it. If they ask about or for the package she just picked up say you returned it to another post office because it was not yours.

yeh, i'd say don't worry, if they were gonna make an arrest, it would have already happened, but a clean house is always a good idea, especially when expecting!!!

could have been two different things:

1. the comment about cigs, depending on how big the box is could be that you were mailed some cigs from a promo of a cig company. (my brother always does that) or it if a truely huge box, some party stores buy cigs in state where the price is half of what they pay and then sell it in their state for a much larger profit. which is illeagal. yes they do the mail order thing too LOL! he could have been tring to figure something like that out. but i doubt it. he prbly gets some cigs in the mail from some promo and your package looks alike. thus the comment about the cigs.

2. if you are some HUGE dealer of gear in your area, they might follow you hoping you go straight to your stash and then call in for a search warrent. some law enforcment vehilces have fax machines in them and they can receive a hard copy of the warrent in a matter of minutes.

like they said, i'm sure you're okay!

Dealer? Not in the least. Just stocking up on gear since I finally found a source that doesn't sell cooking oil.

But a personal supply and the way the laws are written would make me "the evil dealer" anyway. Never sold and never will, not my thing.

She did the drive around in case she was followed and then broke open the box to see if they threw some electric tracker in it.

I think we're ok. Even though she is still bitching about me getting in trouble.
