Hi,

I am a bit conservative when it comes to clothes, i guess - i like J crew, for example. but my size is XL tall and i have a really hard time finding shirts that size. if any of you guys wear that size, where do you buy your work clothes? I work in a white collar office building, so i don't want anything too flashy...

thanks.

nordstrom, thomas pink, macy's etc etc(alot of places).... just use what works for you... see i dress too loud need to tone it down..can u wear strips? strips and a colored tie are hott... where are u at(location) and do others wear?

Thanks. I tried macy's and pink's, but everything is either too short in the sleeves or too big in the waist! Stripes and patterns are OK, but i wouldn't feel comfortable in anything too flashy. The rpoblem isn't finding styles as much as finding sizes that fit properly. thanks.

Try Arrow brand at a discount store like Kohls. They come in tall sizes, which is a longer tail.

Also, try going to neck and sleeve sizes rather than the alpha. They fit a lot better even without a tie.

Lands End is the best for this problem. Their shirts are high quality and last forever. They'll build'm to your specs.

try a tailor to take them in a bit? seamstress or a tailor will be able to help..i am like u..i am on the tall side so i need a size bigger but i hate the big waist etc.so i just have mother take them in for me (she is a seamstress)

how they fit you is more important than the material. I've worked with people who wear jc penney better than the executives wear armani. Slim fit all the way if you don't have a belly. NO PLEATS... unless u have a gut.

I agree. that is why i am looking for advice on where to find clothes that fit a guy who is tall and fit. most shirts that fit in the shoulders are too big in the waist or the sleeves are too short.

a good tailor can make anything fit you... unfortunately, most people aren't ready to find out how much a normal jacket tailoring can cost... i normally spend around 200 to get a jacket tailored. This includes taking out almost every seam though. If you just need sleeves and length shortened it should only be like 30 bux

Darling,

Let me see if I understand your problem right: you have long arms, small waist and wear XL sizes? Is it hot in here or have you just arrived?

How do you think Tom, Brad, George, William (if you must go to England for an example, go for the best) and Freddie always look so good? Because they never wear anything off the rack. Everything is re-measured, re-worked and re-fit to perfection.

I would say, if you can afford, buy custom-made shirts. If you cannot afford custom-made, there is no reason to dispair: there are excellent retail options.

Having worked with skinny models (unfortunately!) for so long, big and tall is not one of Freddie's areas of expertise. However, one place that comes to mind is Ralph Lauren: they are presently having a sale and the "Big and Tall" collection is to die for. If you live in the US, you can buy on the internet at http://www.polo.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=1766326&cp=1760788.1818707&nav=lhn. Enjoy the low prices and please, for the love of Freddie, stay away from pleats.

With that kind of problem in your agenda, I am certain it will not be a problem for you to find a lady friend who you could take shopping with you. That is the perfect excuse for her to see a big guy in the almost nude (and who wouldn't like that!).

Have fun!

thanks for all the help!

Where do you go for custom made? A local tailor? or do depatrment stores have branches for this sort of thing? I live in NYC, if case anyone can recommend a tailor or shop that does custom-fit.

cheers
