Concerts you plan to go to in the near future

I'm headed to the Amorphis, Beyond the Embrace, Into Eternity show in Clifton Park, NY at the end of the month. I'm also trying to talk my brother into going to the Zakk Wylde Black Label Society show the following night.

It amazes me that a small place like Clifton Park gets so many shows that Pittsburgh doesn't. I guess the venues here just kinda suck.

I'm also considering hitting up the Trivium show in Cleveland next week. Just gotta find someone to drag along with me.

How about everyone else? What shows are you planning to go to?

Mudvayne in April. Was supposed to be their small venue tour, but they cancelled it, and are honoring those tix. I don't really care to see Bloodsimple or American Headcharge though ...

Soilwork, Dark Tranquillity, Hypocrisy and Mnemic, also in April.

I might hit that Amorphis gig too. Depends if I feel like seeing it alone.

I forgot about the DT, Soilwork, ect. tour. That's another show I'll have to go see in Cleveland.

Of course it's in the middle of the week! I guess I'll be missing that one.

I have shinedown this weekend and am trying to score tickets to the nin tour. Tickets went on sale yesterday and were out in minutes.

BLS on 3/25

Want to go see Lamb of God in May.
Ozzfest this summer.

Taste of Chaos Tour
w/ My Chemical Romance, The Used, Killswitch Engage, Sensesfail, and a few other awesome acts

good luck sigweed... my chemical is the worst live act you will ever see... followed closely by senses fail... both singers are 100% tone deaf... i'm not exagerating... i love MCR but that fkr cannot sing for the life of him without a studio engineer auto-tuning all of his lyrics. Same for senses fail.. Used is hit or miss live, and killswitch is fking rad. So look forward to them.

ps... i'll probably be at BLS and coldplay in vegas.

MOTLEY CRUE!!!!!!! this weekend !!!!!

I'm told that's a fun show. Enjoy it bor. :)

I agree with ZK on My Chemical Romance. I saw them open for A7x last year, and their performance was bordering on complete fecal matter. Ugh. I think that Taste of Chaos tour is a joke anyhow. But, whatever. If you enjoy that stuff, have fun. :)

senses fail were ok, but faaaar from how they sound on their album... killswitch engage killed it but i felt like their uber-hard style didnt quite fit in... i thought MCR were pretty good actually... Something was a little off that I could put my finger on, but I thought they sounded quite good overall.... and man... the Used... Bert not only killed it, he had sex with it's cadaver... He sounded so amazing live, i was really really impressed... overall... fantasic show!

ps i hat you for getting to see coldplay... let me know how the new stuff sounds

Sorry I did'nt see you at the end of the show. I went to the bathroom, by the time I was done the show was over and my friends were walking out. By the way, that was the worse place I have ever seen a show. I seen maybe three songs from BLS. By the end I was so drunk I did'nt care. Your poor girlfriend probably did'nt see a thing. I'll never go there again for a show. If you are going to the Lamb of God show on May 3rd, let me know. Bogart's is a million times better. Being on a Tues. it should'nt be too crowded. It was cool meeting you and your girl. By the way, you are biggest damn accountant I've ever met! LOL!

Judas Priest, probably hitting Philly in June. If not, I'll catch them in North Jersey.
Machine Head if they come around.
Ozzfest obviously.
Sounds of the Underground if it comes closer. The date in North NJ is probably a good 90+ minutes away.

I was suppose to goto mudvayne but my buddies knew I wasnt to into it and filled my spot, which kinda sucks, but fred eaglesmith comes to town april 23 ,and I get to party backstage with the band

Yea, she couldn't really see Zakk at all and could only see the drummer every once and a while. Hell, even I was having trouble seeing the band at times. I thought the sound was awful. Don't know if it was the venue or a combination of the venue and the Zakk's PA. Overall, I'd give the place a thumbs down as a place to see a show. Overkill is playing there next month. I'd like to see them but I don't know if I want to go there again plus it's a weekday show and the two times I've seen Overkill prior they didn't take the stage until 11:00.

It was good meeting you as well.

Surely Zakk isn't carrying sound gear for a club tour, I'd bet the system either belonged to the venue or was rented from a local sound company for the night.

God Forbid is coming next month with Caliban and Full Blown Chaos. Might be a cool show to check out for $14.
Porcupine Tree will be here in May. Definitely thinking about checking that one out.

Well here's how the 2 shows went this past weekend for me:

Thurs night I saw Beyond the Embrace and Amorphis with some opening band I can't remember. The opening band was ok - played a hardcore style that really didn't fit the show, and isn't something I get into, but they were a last minute fill in. Single Bullet Theory split up during the tour supposedly and several members of Into Eternity were in the hospital with strep or pneumonia or something.

Anyway, Beyond the Embrace put on a kick ass show. These guys are so underrated in my opinion. I think they are incredibly talented. To top it off, they're cool guys - I was able to have a couple drinks with them after their show.

Amorphis was putting on a pretty good show as well. They sounded good, and the vocalist can still growl as well as he did on Elegy. They played a good bit of older heavier stuff (Elegy and Tales of a Thousand Lakes era) mixed in with some of the newer stuff. Overall, I was impressed with them. I was expecting all stuff from Far From the Sun and Am Universum, which would have made for a dull show with alot of songs I don't like. I was glad to see them play older stuff

Show 2 on Fri night - Black Label Society

The opening act, Meldrum, was tough to listen through. They are a mostly female band (the drummer is a guy), and I gotta give the bassist and guitarist credit - they aren't too bad. But the vocals didn't sound good at all, and I just wasn't digging them.

Black Label Society sounded damn good - except for Zakk's vocals. They weren't bad, but weren't great either. My biggest complaint is Zakk's ridiculously long guitar solos between songs. I mean, he shreds enough on the album, and he draws that out so much longer onstage. Alot of people seemed to dig that, but it got old for me. BLS does put on a good show though, and I'll give them credit for that.

Now the overall night would've been alot better had the place not been overcrowded and hot/humid as hell. It was a big sweat box with lots of drunks.

i love watching zakk solo live for hours... especially when he starts finger picking while tremelo picking... that shit blows me away.

update on shows... avenged sevenfold is playing a short notice show at the henry fonda... they are always rad live... if you can get past the 16 yr olds...luckily they have a balcony there.

Nice reviews alpha. Glad you had a good time. Wish I had remembered to catch that Amorphis show ...

As disappointed as I was at the lack of a crowd, since I would like to see the bands get more money and have a bigger fan base....I don't know that it would've been near as fun with a bigger crowd. The fact that my drunk ass was able to get right up to the stage all night and chill with Beyond the Embrace after their set made it such a good time. I might have been able to meet the guys from Amorphis had I not had to leave early.....lets just say the other person I was there with needed out of the bar by that point....

Got Priest tix yesterday. :)

Saw Mudvayne last night. Bloodsimple, American Head Charge, and Life of Agony were a waste of my time though. In the span of those 2 hours, I liked maybe 5 songs. Mudvayne blew them the hell away though. Best performance of theirs I've seen. :)

I really have to go to that show.

I went to see All That Remains last night. The opening band (don't remember the name) and Winter Solstice were a waste of time.

All That Remains was well worth the $10 to see the show. I left after their set. I didn't care to see Throwdown or As I Lay Dying, and I was tired of all the angsty little teenagers that swarmed the place - absolutely awful.

Yeah, you do. With the exception of Hypocrisy, everyone put on a terrific performance. I was blown away with DT though. They were outstanding. I was really impressed with Mnemic too. And of course, Soilwork was terrific as well. Great setlists too.

How was the turnout? I am thinkin about going late just to see DT and Soilwork. I'm wondering how big of a crowd they'll get in Cleveland.

Lot of people. Not sure if it was sold out (I don't think it was. I think I recall seeing more peeps in there before), but there was a great turnout.

Go dude. You will not regret it.

Just ordered the tickets.

Here's a few pics I took with my phone at the Soilwork show. Not terrible, but obviously not awesome quality.

I was going to jet to London for the weekend to see REM.

Then I found out I'm scheduled for backup this weekend. UGH!

Ozzfest is Tuesday! :garza:

Shows I'd like to check out:
Hammerfall/Edguy/Into Eternity. August 17.
Apocalyptica. September 14.

I think that's about it for now.

Fuck yeah!!!! You finally get to see the greatest band ever.....Iron Maiden. Up the Irons!!!!

I see them Aug 2.

I might go check out:
Soilent Green/A Perfect Murder/Into the Moat/Watch Them Die
on Sunday night.

For $10, I think seeing WTD and APM would be worth it. :)

I'd be all over that.

Oooh, the Black Dahlia Murder is making a stop here in September. Might have to check that out. Cephalic Carnage is also on the bill.

2/17 - Opeth, Dark Tranquillity
3/28 - Green Carnation, Beyond the Embrace

FZ, Rob Zombie and Lacuna Coil are touring together? For some reason, that just seems like a weird combination to me.

You motherfucker. I would kill to see Green Carnation.
Might have to take another vacation day and travel to NYC for another show ...

Yeah dude, that is kinda weird. Know who's opening?
Bullet for My Valentine.
Weird lineup man.

Crowbar are touring with Will Haven in March - you know i gotta make that.
Just missed Clutch and Corrosion of Conformity show due to lack of funds. The christmas period truly raped my bank account.
